  • Comments Thread For: Stiverne Weighs 254 Pounds, 15 More Than 1st Fight With Wilder

Bermane Stiverne was even heavier for his rematch with Deontay Wilder than for his last fight. The former WBC heavyweight champion came in at 254 pounds Friday in Brooklyn, New York, where he and Wilder weighed in for their mandatory rematch Saturday night. Haiti's Stiverne, who turned 39 on Wednesday, was a quarter pound heavier Friday than he was for his forgettable fight against Derric Rossy in November 2015.

what a shame. Stiverne apparently has given up. He has some skills and had a decent learning curve for someone entering the sport late.

i like wilder because he's a in shape all year round kinda fighter. 3 years ago he was at 219. 220 today showing that he takes his training very very seriously. joshua was 10 pounds heavier then when he fought wlad. stiverne 15 pounds bigger then when he 1st fought wilder. heavyweights like joshua stiverne don't understand how being 220 235 is a benefit. all they see is food food food. weight lifting. getting big. I am bigger. heavyweight boxing has never worked that way. u are at a serious stamina disadvantage when u add on so much bulk & weight. someone like joshua should really be 235 to 240 max.

I remember looking at the first fight and watching Stiverne plod around and thinking he'd probably do better if he was even fatter.

Although Joshua's in shape too, those are some good points you're making. Stiverne is sloppy fat though as opposed to the other two.
