The Pretty Boy Floyd years Floyd was more like a Oscar and Sugar Ray type dude, he wasn't as charasmatic as those dudes, but it helped him get established as a ppv attraction, but the Money May character he mixed in more of the bad boy image that people love to hate, with the big baller swag. That plus winning the fights put him over the top.

To his credit, Floyd probably helped sell a great deal of the Oscar fight by use of that 24/7 vehicle, where he began to cultivate the Money Mayweather image. Did he oversell it yeah sometimes but Floyd was willing to sell his soul like that. I don't think most of these guys today are willing to do that.

Thats not charisma though. Charisma is natural. Floyd, as you mentioned, had to transform into a character. Good on him, it worked!

I also want to ad, PBC is a great thing where all boxers are under 1 banner and its continous for the fans, UFC like model. BUT they are doing something wrong. they started off good with marketing and fell off I feel.

they ran out of money and overextended themselves. paying people like lara 1 million a fight and it was over quickly. haymon has a lot of pride so hes not letting it die and hes goign to drag it out to a slow death and stall these guys' careers since there arent enough shows to get them fights often. only when showtime wants to pay for them. it was ran the exact opposite of ufc. ufc started slow and built up. pbc started huge and winded down.

they spent a lot of time and money trying to manufacture guys like broner and ward into stars but broner kept losing and ward was so boring and couldnt win a fight non-controversially and retired. next guy they will try to manufacture is named eric crumble. hes a scrappy fighter.
