Paul Spadafora was a bum

I agree Paul Spaddy was a good top 10 lightweight(you could make case for bottom top 5 maybe)And he was very good with his feet and was a good tech but I think using "brilliant" to describe Paul in any part of boxing is a little much.I love spadafora.
Spadafora had no power, no speed, no real physical attritubes.
Except that fcker loved boxing amd when he wasn't drinking and shooting hoes, he was boxing, it's all he did. You'll never see such an unathletic fighter accomplish what he did.
He did it by studying boxing and living in the gym. That dude was technically brilliant. He was a genius at using different angles and constantly changing up his attack, making it hard to hit him by turning fighters left and right non-stop.
Don't sleep on spadafora.Comment

There isn't one boxer with as little athletic ability that made it as far in this sport as he did. He did it purely with technique. he was never faster, powerful, or stronger, than anyone.
Check out his fight with Israel Cardona. Paulie was massive underdog in that fight.
Look how he boxes inside, outside, turns both ways constantly. Changes up the offense, punches from every angle, punching technique is on point.
That fight with Israel Cardona is like a text book for boxing 101. Dude was pretty brilliant, and as gutter as he sounds when he talks, when he talks boxing, he knows his ****.Comment

I agree he was good tech and like you pointed out very good feet. And I get what your sayin about his lack of athletic ability.Just don't rate him quite as high as you do that's all. There isn't one boxer with as little athletic ability that made it as far in this sport as he did. Your posts about Spadi made my day. Only a true devotee of the sweet science can recognize the tradition of the Pittsburgh school of boxing. Like, no no don't take your shirt off, its ok, but when the bell rings, we had the technical brilliance of the likes of Charlie Burley, Billy Conn, and so many other guys... Technical giants, flawless. And truly Spadi was part of that tradition. There isn't one boxer with as little athletic ability that made it as far in this sport as he did. When I see guys like Spadi, Dimitri Pirog, it shows what technical skills can do for the sport and for the man. Great posts great postsComment

I don't rate him super high, but technically I do. That fcker knew how to box. Again, that is picture perfect boxing 101 what he did to Cardona.
If you were to train a boxer, that is what you would want them to do.
Don't get me started about pirog. Pirog is one of the sexiest, trickiest fighters I've ever seen in my life. What he did to Jacobs was sexy as fck. Never seen a fighter move like that. To bad he never got to have a full career.Your posts about Spadi made my day. Only a true devotee of the sweet science can recognize the tradition of the Pittsburgh school of boxing. The look on Jacobs face in the short fight tells you everything. I've never seen a fighter hide his punches so well.Comment

If you have not, catch Charley Burley versus Oakland Billy Smith below (two parts)Its the only fight ever filmed of Burley. This guy outfoxed Archie Moore! twice!!
