Don't take it too extremes bro. I'm not saying no little guy can hit. I'm saying wayyyyyyy more lil guys can't KO guys like bigger guys can. And that insures fights can't end suddenly more often than not. That makes the action & everything that happens potentially more dramatic or less dramatic for the lil guys...again for most people.
I mean thats why people get so excited for big HW fights cuz those things can end on a dime & its damn near another sport cuz I'd agree with you they are the least skilled boxers (To go into sci fi fantasyland lets shrink down Joshua & Wilder to 147lbs or down to one of your lil guy divisions & lets see how well lil Joshua & lil Wilder do lmfao), but people love them more all else being equal (if there was a HW version of Floyd he'd crush Floyd's PPV records I have zero doubt).
But hell man I really like Higa, but he's not the average lil guy & I'd argue whatever his legacy in boxing ends up being it'll be lesser than it should be cuz there are too many lil guy divisions so the best lil guys barely ever fight each other. And I'm talking in the same division. Higa isn't likely to ever become the undisputed champion cuz those guys almost never unify belts. Thats cuz there are too many lil guy divisions that aren't appealing & lack the depth those divisions to get more mainstream attention.
Talk to 100 boxing fans on a site like this. Most won't know more than 1 or 2 champions & virtually no one will know even one contender at or below 122lbs without looking it up. Thats 6 f#cking divisions most boxing fans don't care about & barely seem to know about. Over one third of the divisions are dedicated to guys most cats don't even know lol. How ****** is that? That says something about those divisions entertainment level & appeal to most people.
So okay its subjective, but hell everything is subjective if you wanna say so. That doesn't mean there isn't a waste of divisions on lil guys & a destruction of lil guys legacies in the sports cuz they are spread out so far. Everyone should know about Ricardo Lopez (among my favorite all time fighters), everyone should know about a lot of lil guys. Maybe everyone should know about Daigo Higa (we shall see over the next several years), but they won't cuz his accomplishments will be diluted in all these divisions most don't give a f#ck about nor should they cuz there isn't as much entertainment going on there as there could be with the top guys fighting each other. You need a even higher level of competition in the lil guy divisions than there is.
Thats just a fact as I see it. And a lot of that involves consolidating some of those lil guy divisions. If you are a fan of lil guy divisions you should love it more than you love it now. It'd be the best fighting the best more often then they do now. Who can argue against that when its needed as badly as it is when ~33% of pro boxers (the lil guys) take up ~50% of the divisions?
