Give me a break. it wasnt as though Takam was winning or that the fight was close.

This "he was going to win anyway" argument sets a terrible precedent for what the public is willing to tolerate. A guy like Arthur Abraham who intentionally takes a beating early then comes back late would be 0-30.

A stoppage must be justified by what's happening at the moment of the stoppage, period, not on who was "gonna win anyway".

I was shocked the ref didn't stop it when Takam turned away from AJ shaking his head and pawing at his eye in the 4th. For a couple of seconds, I thought it was all over at that point.

And yes, it's time the alphabet boys started enforcing the neutral refs for world title fights rule I believe they all have.

From what I've been reading today, Phil Edwards stopped the fight because he was worried about Takam's cuts and obscured vision preventing him from seeing AJ's punches.

With a huge power punching HW like AJ throwing bombs, I think that was a legit reason.

Controversial stoppage aside, I thought AJ's performance was one of his most measured and impressive to date. Coming into the fight, some experts saw Takam presenting a greater challenge than Pulev. Whatever, Takam is a beast who absorbed shots that would have buckled many other heavyweights. And he made Parker look terrible!
