I thought it was a terrible stoppage That ref wanted to stop that fight and award it to AJ from the start. He tried to talk the guy into quitting from a minor cut and called the doctor in to look at the cut every 5 minutes. He was hurt but no where near enough to stop the fight. He was ducking and slipping punches when the ref jumped in to "save" him. No wonder he was shocked the fight was stopped. Maybe AJ would have legitimately stopped him later or maybe not. We will never know thanks to a ref who protected AJ's 100% KO record like a mother hen. AJ looked sluggish and his work rate was very poor. If Wilder goes to England to fight AJ he had better insist on a neutral referee.

it was a dodgy stoppage but the guy was miles behind and had no chance of winning so to me thhe ref done the right thing

It was an unjustified stoppage and a poor performance by AJ. I doubt he averaged more than 20 punches thrown per round.
