Since when does a title holder have to earn the right to fight another title holder?

One could argue that they are starting to shoot themselves in the foot. You have to maintain a certain amount of interest and internationally is where you expand the most per your advertising because it a new market for the fighter being promoted.People act like boxing isn't also a business and that fighters should disregard business and make it all about having the biggest fights possible back to back to back only ever fighting who the fan's want to meet most, Sorry but it doesn't work like that. They have made AJ into a huge global marketable money making machine, as much as i want to see the wilder fight happen yesterday i understand exactly what AJ's team are doing, they are playing it very smart and maximizing profit while playing it as safe as the can, AJ is still learning the game hes not even in his prime yet, The smart move it to give AJ a few more fights before facing the biggest threat out there right now in wilder. Technically you can call this ducking but its also the smartest move, Its also not an all out duck, they know the fight is going to happen sooner or later they are just taking their sweet time trying to get AJ as much experience as they can first. If i was AJ's Manager thats exactly what i would do, the guys only had 19 fights and if i was wilder's team i would want that fight asap. This is the way the game goes, its really not hard to understand both sides.
If I were a business consultant for the heavyweight division I would want them to make one guy the "brand" the "anchor" and they you can marinate the fight, build anticipation, etc. AJ isn't there yet for that role, he is not outspoken enough if nothing else. Wilder talks a big game but has not shown the skills to actually get in the ring and fight some of the best...
To me if you want a healthy, viable heavy weight division with name recognition, you really need a tournament of some sort... instead of subliminally inducing interest go right into the conscious part of the brain....
"HUrry HURRY step right up!!!! who is the best heavyweight on the planet!!? Only God's knows but we shall know soon!!! No excuses! no turning back! The best enter the round robin with one man emerging!!! And he can take his alphabet soup with him as undisputed!"
This would get fans buzzed beyond belief. It would pay off for years after and give fans a reason to tune in to boxing again. That would be my recomendation because these guys are known sporadically and all need an international presence.
Boxing is alas, so greedy that it will not help itself as a conscious whole concerned with the best for all... Thats a shame.Comment

Wilder doesn't have to earn a shot at Joshua. Joshua isn't the hvw champion. He's a UK trinket belt holder who is popular in the UK. He will shame Joshua's stiff ass into fighting him.Comment

No doubt he choose to fight in his home town more often or not, but no one saw any reason for him to fight out of the states. Like if Anthony keeps selling 70000 + seats I see no reason for him to fight out side of England.....but back to my original statement I was under the belief that you typically come to America to make your name more international.Comment

Difference being that Joshua and his opponents makes more money fighting in the U.K., while Ward would have made more money fighting abroad. I cannot say for sure why Ward chose not to travel, but some would say that it's because he wouldn't get the hometown treatment he was used to.No doubt he choose to fight in his home town more often or not, but no one saw any reason for him to fight out of the states. With Ajs appearance (he looks like a “movie” boxer. Stature etc) and kos the only thing holding him back from western recognition is the time difference for fights. But he’s not going to sell 90000 seats here anyway so **** it. He doesn’t need us except for PPv sales when he fights deontay in 2019-2020Difference being that Joshua and his opponents makes more money fighting in the U.K., while Ward would have made more money fighting abroad. Its funny how the people like OP were defending Canelo ducking GGG even when GGG was mandatory simpley because Canelo was A-side but then complain about AJ not fighting Wilder straight awayThis is an A side vs B side thing not champion vs champion. JOSHUA decides when and where this fight goes down. Hearn will maximize his profit before putting him in danger again. 90,000 tickets against bums means Wilder sits and waits. Nature of the business unfortunatelyComment

They were !
And .. surprise, surprise .. the same bunch are now saying that GGG should ignore the WBC order for him to fight Canelo before Charlo because ... Charlo is the WBC mando!
