The way Oquendo has been jerked around by the WBA for so many years, the way Oquendo has been disrespected by the media for so many years, we really truly hope this fight happens and that Oquendo wins. You'll never find a nicer guy in this business. A quality fighter, not great, but a very good fighter who has done nothing but work hard and try to make a life for himself and his family, while boxing politics have typically screwed him at every turn.

If at 44 or 45 years old, he can manage to upset Pulev to become the WBA world heavyweight champion, he deserves kudos for never giving up and staying ready during a tumultuous wait for his title shot.

Fres's is a perfect example of why not to watch heavyweight boxing...

I presume Pulev would have earned a lot more money fighting AJ for the IBF and WBA super titles. So opting for the lesser WBA strap against Oquendo instead is going to be hard to sell as anything other than a blatent duck motivated by fear of losing.

He was getting 5 million bucks to fight AJ.

I just can't believe someone would pass up 5 million bucks for the chance to fight for the minor WBA belt and then cash into a possibly bigger payday. I'm trying to get there in my mind, but I can't. He going to make what fighting Oquendo? 400k? What if he ****in loses? What if the fight doesn't happen? What if they order Oquendo-Arreola or some ****?

If he actually faked that injury and passed up 5 million bucks, he's in neck and neck with Manny Pacquiao and ******est dude in the sport.

Bloody ****in hell, no wonder Pulev ran out on that payday against Joshua. He'll get a belt in the easiest fight in title history, then come back to the table with AJ demanding more money cuz he brings a belt to the table. Sneaky bastard

Pulev lost his IBF mandatory position when he got hurt. So the soonest he would have gotten a title shot, assuming he was able to be named IBF mandatory again, would be a year or two from now.

If he wins the WBA title, he may get a Joshua shot sooner, and if not, he's made himself more valuable for when the fight does happen.
