So is Pulev really injured? Pulev vs Oquendo for the WBA regular belt is sad but it will at least get rid of him & his title shot he is owed. So I’m assuming the winner of Ustinov/Charr gets to be next in line for the joke regular trinket. I thought the WBA wanted to end the 3 belt system. I guess they don’t...

whenever I make a thread and there are TWO wba champs I make sure I signify them as WBA-SUPER World and WBA-REG World champion

The Big-O (44yr) can not afford a cheap$$ loss. The negotiating money-ball can be in Fres's court to fight Pulev. Unless the WBA forces this fight.

Pulev lost his IBF mandatory position when he got hurt. So the soonest he would have gotten a title shot, assuming he was able to be named IBF mandatory again, would be a year or two from now.

If he wins the WBA title, he may get a Joshua shot sooner, and if not, he's made himself more valuable for when the fight does happen.

Pulev has been reluctant to fight AJ from the start. He posted a comment on FB criticising his promoter for making the fight before he was ready, then deleted it shortly afterwards.

Even assuming his injury is genuine he could have asked for a postponement and kept his IBF mandatory position till he was fit, then rescheduled.

The WBA title Pulev is fighting for is of no value at all to AJ, because he already has the WBA super title.

This is the problem with the Boxing Scene forums. Fans constantly posting false information over and over. Pretending they are experts about subjects they know absolutely nothing about. You don't think Pulev would have delayed the fight if he could have? IBF rules plainly state that if the champion doesn't want to wait, the challenger loses their shot and it goes to the next available contender.

Hearn wanted this IBF mandatory out of the way, which is why he had Takam on standby.

My goodness! The sanctioning bodies are just handing out belts. I thought the WBA was supposed to move away from all this super, regular and interim champs? At least Shannon Briggs would provide an entertaining build up.

Climb down off your high horse, fool. I've read enough of your posts to know that you are not the font of all boxing knowledge you try to paint yourself as.

The rule you are talking about there says that if the leading contender is unavailable for any reason, including injury, at the time a mandatory is due to be ordered, he will be ruled out of consideration and the next contender down will be named. It does not say that a mandated fight cannot be postponed if the challenger suffers an injury after the terms are agreed and the contracts signed.

No I don't think Pulev would have delayed the fight if he could have. His first reaction when the fight was announced was to complain that he wasn't ready for it.

And now, by deciding to challenge for a secondary title with another sanctioning org, he has disqualified himself from further consideration as a AJ's IBF mandatory.
