A loss could never blemish the skill he displayed. A young Floyd passes anybody's eye test hands down
Would Mayweather Still Be Considered Great If He Had a Loss?

Canelo wasn't anywhere near "prime" when Mayweather fought him. Canelo's in his prime now but he was wet behind the ears back then. He has much more boxing wisdom, power and experience at this point.floyd did that with castillo. im sure he knew he lost that one in reality but got saved by boxing politics ward style. castillo wasnt a great fighter though so that hurts losing to him. didnt want to fight stevie johnston but was willing to fight the slower lumbering castillo with 4 ko losses so that backfired on him. after that his level of comp dropped drastically unfortunately. didnt fight another prime top fighter until canelo and that was at a catch weight. yikes.Comment

Honestly I think a loss would have been good for Floyd's legacy. I think he would have chased more fights to prove his worth. His whole image was wrapped up in being undefeated so I think a loss totally changes how his career looks, granted that's saying it happened with like Castillo.Comment

The last 35 to forty years. There were some great fighters. Hearns Leonard, Duran and Benitez, Donald Curry. Terry Norris, Mike McCallum at super welterweight.Comment

You didn't say that in your original post. Then add Aaron Pryor to your list. He has a good chance of beating Floyd. Possibly Meldrick Taylor but he may not punch hard enough to get Mayweather's attention. He certainly had the hand speed and combination punching.Last edited by TonyGe; 10-24-2017, 01:31 PM.Comment

floyd boys get mad because they know they don't really have a comeback when you cite how inferior his resume is to his comtemporaries..you said name my fav fighter so i did. i didn't pull him out of my ass. you dont even know how to use that expression correctly. yes i can name others and yes i can name recent ones. all the fab 4 guys are better than floyd. more recent? roy jones jr for example. much better resume. he beat all time greats in their primes like hopkins and toney. i dont see anyone on their level for floyd. he beat tarver who was the clear #1 fighter in his division, in his prime and who had just wiped out the #2, 3, and 4 fighters. cant remember floyd fightin anyone like that. you have to deal with floyd having a subpar resume for a "great" fighter as i already said. he jus doesnt have it. why get mad at people for pointing this out?Comment
