Comments Thread For: Photos: Joe Joyce, Michael Page Debut - Stop Opponents To Win

Joyce vs. Lewison Fight Photos Gallery - Joe Joyce put on something of a punch-perfect display to score a stoppage on his professional debut. The former Team GB star, who had competed in the World Series of Boxing for the British Lionhearts, was victorious at the Indigo at the O2 Arena. Joyce hoped to blaze a trail for UK former Olympians by making his start in the paid code over 10 rounds, exclusively live on Dave.

I like Joe Joyce. His left hook is crazy slow and will probably get him in trouble at some point but his gas tank for Heavyweight is unbelievable.

When he steps up in class again he's going to be in some classic tear ups. Because it looks like he can hold a shot and his work rate is metronomic. He's going to outlast good heavyweights.

Joe Joyce vs Del Boy is already something I'm looking forward too.

I thought JJ looked ponderous and very underwhelming, I've heard good things though from some talented fighters that have sparred him... I just don't see it

Maybe if it was his 10th pro fight or something but for his debut i thought he looked pretty good. He should look more fluid and relaxed next time out.

Joyce did a great job imo. He completely dominated a solid fighter. Yes, Lewison was obese and his arse was hanging out, but he was defending himself intelligently and posed a counter-punching threat throughout the whole fight, which is why Joyce couldn't just jump on him and knock him out at will. If it had been AJ Carter or David Howe in there then Joyce would have undoubtedly looked every bit as destructive as Dubois. In fact Lewison would score brutal KOs against those guys too. After seeing the negative reactions to this fight I now understand why promoters are so reluctant to put their prospects in with live bodies. Haye should put Joyce on his undercard in December against some chinny Latvian and let him get a nice KO for the highlight reel

As for Page, he won't get very far. The first competent journeyman he faces will chin him

Who the hell is this guy Joyce?! what sanctions boxingscene to publish articles and threads on this guy making a pro debut? and hes 32?! GTFO looks like another euro hype-job!!! gawd I cant stand these privileged UK boxers!

Hes probably already ranked top 5 by the IBF with this win alone!

Credit to Joyce, he looked better than i have seen but at 32 can he improve doe? It looked like he isn't doing any 4 rounders so he might be moved very quickly.

One fight and hed already fought someone better than Deontay in he's first 20. Your heavyweight champion is privalaged. The best guy he ever fought was iced in two rounds by an unknown. 😂

Joyce is decent and age isn't so important to a big heavy so he may go far. Page, well, he could be good seeing as he's rangy with good power and obviously athletic, but he's wasting he's time trying so hard to be unorthodox when we've seen it all before. What was with all the unnecessary movement last night I'll never know. I can't take him seriously.

He's the guy who was robbed of Olympic gold last year. It's normal for top amateurs to receive extra coverage when they turn pro, especially when their debut is a 10-rounder against a live body
