Hagler beat the prime and punch resistance out of Mugabi

that fight made him chinny AF, most of his losses after are all savage ko losses

Depends on the effect of the punch. A power punch is any punch that isn't a jab. I think Compubox started using that misleading term for stats. Canelo landed quite a few of them and Golovkin barely blinked. Canelo when he got tired was basically throwing arm punches.

Would have been a great fight.

I think Golovkin is quite a bit better than Mugabi and that was a great fight.

          1) I don't think GGG would have fought Hagler the same way Mugabi did...GGG likely would box behind the jab as he always has any time he respects his opponent's power...I think he would find success with the jab against Hagler but maybe some disagree.

          2) Hagler surely did take something out of Mugabi that night...similar in a way to what GGG did to Brook in their fight...Mugabi iirc lost his next fight by KO due to a broken eye socket, just as Brook lost his in similar fashion.

But then Mugabi won 11 straight by KO, over the same type of competition as he was facing before Hagler - all by early KO against OK fighters at 154...not against an ATG at 160.

One could make a good argument that Mugabi just wasn't quite a top level fighter and that showed greatly in his big fights with McClellan Norris and Hagler...but he was a 'beast' vs other good fighters.

I agree though that Hagler took something out of him that night...but when you go 11-1 in your next 12, with 11 KOs and winning back the WBC at 154...I mean hard to say you were completely done at that point and that you had 'your prime and punch resistance beaten out of you'

              - -Marv with a 5 yr overlap between his debut and Monzon retirement.

That he was not yet ready to challenge in his 4th and 5th year is perhaps telling he was still a work in progress.

Monzon also took his time in a much rougher climate, but he dominated better opposition as Champ than did Marv, point being Monzon as close to invincible as possible in those years. I doubt Duran or Leonard would bother him in the least.

GGG and Monzon both with size advantage, equally relentless and solid fundamentals would have the advantage over Marv.

However, U Pantywaists gonna have to learn some manners and boxing nuance if U want to see those fights in Valhalla.
