I am a big Toney fan but believe that Vlad will stop him in a one sided fight, though with Vlad there is always the chance he can get caught. He was hurt by jabs against Peter and cannot afford to shake off flush shots like Rahman did. The man gets bug eyes and panics when he is hit. He always will.

That said, this is professional boxing, and Goosen would be an idiot to accept 1.5 mil to fight Vlad. Toney can make that in the WBC fight, then fight Vlad for $5mil or almost parity in a unification fight if he were to win the wbc title.

If he lost the wbc fight but was competitive, he could make $1 mil or so against the WBo champ or even brewster.

If Toney were 33 taking short money to get an ABC date might be worth it. At this point he needs to maximize his value. I expect that they will settle on soemthing north of $2 mil.

I sympathize with those who say Toney does no derseve the shot. His conditioning was a disgrace against Rahman, though his performance was not.

Toney in the worst condition of his career managed a well deserved draw against Rahman, so if he'd come in a 215 he'd have had more speed and better balance and would have beat Rahman. Can you honestly tell me that he need steroids against Ruiz? BS. If Toney beats Wlad it proves that he can take on the best HW, and if Wlad get dropped it proves that he doesn't have a HW chin(cause supposedly Toney doesn't have a HW punch). IMHO the man Wlad is ducking is Brewster, cause he thinks that Toney is the smaller man and the easier fight, but in my opinion is a clash of styles Wlad would own Toney from the outside, if Toney get on the inside then it Light Out.

Just to be clear WestChester, don't take my words to read as "Toney doesn't deserve anything he's a fat disgrace etc". What I mean is that Toney isn't in a position to be naming prices for shots at all, because he's not a mandatory for Wlad. Wlad is giving him an option, simple as (if it's even true).

As a separate issue I do think its a disgrace the relaxed attitude there is in boxing towards failed drug tests, and for Toney to magically leapfrog to be mandatory for Rahman then mandatory again in 6 months is also ****ed up.
