Why would he give up the belt when a unification trumps a mandatory. Beltran would have to wait and fight the winner.Comment

Why would Flanagan fight him in the states? Beltran doesn't have HBO backing, he's with Arum and ESPN. Flanagan will make more money fighting in the UK against either Beltran or Linares. ESPN and Arum aren't going to pay a lot for that fight and Linares can't fill arena here in the states, look at his last fight at the Forum.Flanagan needs to give up the title and I dont understand why he does not fight him in the states Beltran has HBO backing and he has BT Sport and Box Nation. As fighter this is the best fight for him Linares is a good trade fight but not going to make money. Flannagan is britian worst world champion on the lines of Nathan CleverleyComment

Because Crawford was in no way going to lose those fights. Figueroa has a chance of beating Beltran and Arum won't make that fight unless he gets options on Figueroa. Would Arum allow Beltran to fight on Showtime or a PBC card? I doubt it.Comment

While I'm kind of sceptical about how good exactly Terry Flanagan is, I think he's plenty better than Beltran. As a fan I'm much happier with the prospect of a unification fight with Linares than I am with the prospect of a Beltran mandatory as far as Flanagan's concerned.Comment

Just for the record, Beltran is at 135 and Figueroa is at 140. As far as going the the UK to fight, Beltran has no issue getting on a plane to fight Flanagan. Ray has never in the nearly 6 years I've managed backed away from a fight. Linares would be our first pick because Ray would dwarf him. Linares is a great guy, a solid fighter, but he knows Ray is all wrong for him. Remember that we went to Scotland and broke Ricky Burns jaw and of course got screwed by the judges. Even Burns was a true champion and told us in the ring that night that we won. But if you want to truly show that you would fight anyone anywhere than get on a plane and come to NY, or Vegas, or Staples or Stub Hub. Regardless. Ray is the mandatory, and he will fight for the title this year. We are waiting for the WBO to firm up a few things. Look for a possible fight later this year with another great one, could be high-tech. You see Ray isn't looking for excuses, he wants to know that in the end he was in the ring with the best lightweights in the world. He fought Crawford at 135, and was one of the only fighters to survive 12 rounds. Think about it. Crawford can destroy you, but he didn't get Ray out of there and we have mad respect for Terrence. At some point Ray will move up, and he will look forward to some great fights at 140, but for this year, we want that WBO or WBC belt and we intend to get it. I appreciate everyones comments. Great boxing fans, and everyone has their take. All I can say it's a lot harder between the ropes, than it is to just comment. Have a blessed day everyone.Comment

Terry does OK in the ring, I never said anything bad about his skill. It's his hen house ways and his choice of opponents. To hear him, nobody his size has the stones, but he easily finds somebody smaller. And apron string like iron bars, he wouldn't leave home at gunpointWhile I'm kind of sceptical about how good exactly Terry Flanagan is, I think he's plenty better than Beltran.
