  • Comments Thread For: NSAC Head: Adalaide Byrd Not Suspended, Expect Her Back Soon

Contrary to numerous reports, the executive director of the Nevada Athletic Commission, Bob Bennett, has confirmed that controversial boxing judge Adalaide Byrd is not under any form of suspension. Byrd was highly criticized and came under heavy fire for her 118-110 scorecard in favor of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in last month's showdown with middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The bout ended in a split draw, with the other two judges scoring it 114-114 for the draw and 115-113 for Golovkin.

Maybe it was just a bad night. But you can’t afford to have a bad night on the biggest fight of the year. NSAC is handling this badly, unsurprisingly. I’m not saying they should throw her under the bus but there is absolutely no reason for a professional judge of this level to have such an awful scorecard. There must be some penalty.

I commend the NSAC for their fair and reasonable ruling. Mrs. Byrd truly knows the art of the 'Sweet-science' its a shame that so many casuals frequent the interwebs and come here flaming this high-ranking official.

A reminder of what Mrs. Byrd seen and what you didn't Below :

Well done NSAC ; Las Vegas U.S.A is the Meca of boxing.

So you think your 5 second clip of Golovkin missing a punch justifies Byrd's ludicrous scorecard? That's totally bias and prejudice.

Corruption or incompetance.... there should be some form of penalty for either.

Then again, this is pro boxing, the whole system is ****ed.
