Comments Thread For: Prospect William Webber Upset By Debutant Eric Israel

On his professional debut Eric Israel upset the odds against William Webber tonight. 27-year-old Israel, originally from Nigeria, might have been wild and unorthodox at times but his power was too much for the 18-year-old prospect at York Hall. Webber, trained by Peter Sims, was a decorated amateur and looked the part early on in this four round contest at middleweight.

Interview after was funny. Israel said his family back home in Nigeria didnt like him boxing and to give up, and he told them he had, then they go and put his first fight on TV.

        This is the digital era....

This kid shouldn't be fighting. By the way he goes down both times, falling all over himself, he doesnt have enough brain protection either not a thick enough skull or not enough synovial fluid around his brain. Either from dehydration or genetic. Either way if he hydrates he goes up to bigger punchers. He's susceptible to brain injury and death. If he keeps fighting someone will kill him or he'll end up going crazy like Jermaine Taylor.

Maybe having '666 The Beast' plastered on his shorts was asking for trouble

Either Webber has very poor punch resistance or Isreal is blessed with world class power. He's raw and crude but he could be one of those fortunate fellas who are born with dynamite in their fists.

Did anyone else think that Webber already looked like he was stumbling all over the place before he got hit? Something uncoordinated about him.
