There's some lunacy going on in this thread lol
But everybody knows that fighting twice a year on those weekends has become tradition in the sport. Just looking back on it, looks like its been that way since the late 90s (Chavez and Oscar both utilized the strategy, but not as intentional as Floyd as they had randoms thrown in), and was popularized (or explicitly described) by Floyd.
There's nothing wrong with Canelo waiting. It's smart, it allows him to make NBA level money, and extend his career. All this "it hurts boxing stuff" isnt based on any factual or statistical support. Its actually data in direct opposition to that statement.
I expect the fight to sell slightly less than the first but will still be really successful. Lets say 1.2 million buys. If Oscar was smart he'd get Mikey v. Linares on the undercard and that could drive buys up to maybe 1.5 million.
GGG wont have any issue with it. The way he was talking about that $20 million pre-fight, I got the impression he was just happy to be there getting that bag lol

Canelo doesn't need GGG. He could fight Charlo, Jacobs, BJS and probably a few others and still make $10 million plus.
Definitely a GGG fan, but let's stay in reality lol

But only idiots like yourself can't accept the fact they waited long after a GGG call out two years ago. Thanks chicken shet and your mexicant fighter will get stopped in the rematch.

Dude, I'll take the bet. Let's set something up. I live in Los Angeles. You? 500 on the winner and I have it by GGG stoppng the Nexicant. if he survives and if GGG wins on the cards you still win the 500. PM me if you have the nut sack.

From a competitive/health standpoint it's tough to take that much trauma in such small windows. And financially it takes time to develop the wisdom to make sound decisions.
Had a conversation with a former professional not too long ago (think world champion level) and he put me up on this line thinking. Back in the day guys were making almost all of their cash in a window at an age when the decision making wasn't very good.
I think we'll see much healthier, financially stable guys coming out of the new norm. That matters to me. Nothing worse than seeing a former champ broke and barely talking in his mid to late 40s.
Obviously this only applies to guys who are making the six-figure plus (really 300k or so) purses. As these are the guys fighting twice a year.
