When Mikey garcia said he wouldn't fight gamboa for a million dollars arum just shelved him and also kept walters on the shelf for not agreeing to fight lomachenko when he originally tried to make that fight. Promoters are the ones who try to make the good fights because its good business and the majority of these al haymon free agents would rather cherrypick because they know they wont get shelved as long as showtime is dumb enough to keep paying. This is why hbo cut ties with haymon many years ago
    No candy coating it.

Broner put up his mitts and threw nothing for 12 rounds. Cant really generate much power on that, Garcia finishes his fights on counters and he stunned Broner once on a counter and hurt him to the body. Cotto is super open to pretty much every shot and is there to be hit, he wont cover up. Mikey is better than Canelo at pretty much everything so yeah I think he has a good shot on a defensively very open, extremely slow and horrifically counterable opponent. At its least damaging it looks like the Canelo-Chavez jr. fight with the role of Chavez jr. being played by Cotto. Canelo is good at slipping punches but not so much at moving and countering, something Garcia is astronomically better at. I dont know how many full-power flush straight hands from Garcia Cotto can take, but the number is a number that can be landed on over 12, IMO.

        NEXT!
Mikey Garcia's next fight will be on Showtime Championship Boxing, and the Broner-Garcia fight saw the bill splitting something like $2.8 million.

As the feature fighter for the Showtime Championship Boxing card, to think that Mikey is going to see shorter money (on a unification fight no less) is ******.

Remember all the De la Hoya dig at older promoters "We work for the fighters" " We would never exploit the fighters" etc

Mike just needs to fight Broner 3 times so he can get the kind of money GBP is offering.

              Lol. That's being extremely short-sighted.

Actually I don't give a fk about ticket sales or finances, you might want to go back and read the chain of threads i've replied to instead of jumping in and being clueless like you just did. The only thing I care about in this discussion is clarifying that Cotto is the draw in this equation and that it doesn't matter who he fights as his last opponent.

Can't even think of a name that would give him a PBC sponsored fight.
Maybe Porter, if that's as big a name as Cotto.
naw, I mean every mofo up to cruiserweight almost is being mentioned as a possible foe for Mikey. It's getting ri****. I wish he'd just rampage at 135 or 140 first of all.

Mikey's not Saul Alvarez or anything, but he's known throughout the boxing world has shown that he can sell tickets on the East Coast, and will sell a lot of tickets when he finally headlines his return to SoCal. You add that Showtime is clearly interested in airing his fights and it's not like Mikey is scraping for opportunity.

Linares is basically in a position where he's either fighting Mikey Garcia on US TV, or fighting someone else off of US TV.

Maybe they parlay Ali into something.
Mikey has never sold lot of tickets in the east or west coast smh. They slashed ticket prices two weeks before the Broner fight and that still didn't sell very well and what sold was Broner not Garcia.

Linares just headlined in LA on hbo against Luke campbell with a weak crowd of like 5000 fans So Linares can headline on hbo without Garcia. His ticket sales weren't great but Garcia has never sold a lot of tickets either.

If you honestly think that Mikey Garcia's return to SoCal won't move tickets, that's on you
