How is it a b1tch move when you have golden boy shills/nerds tweeting out false information ? They were trying to make it seem like he was scared. Same nerd crew that keeps bs stirred up in boxing Kim/Montoya/Fischer

Zero confidence from golden boy how? What do they care if some fighter they are promoting for his last fight loses? They just want to make money. People like if mickey aint a diva and isnt gonna demand a large sum of money

Cotto-Garcia makes money. Cotto retires. Mikey fights your other fighter Linares and you make more money. Or maybe it's such a good fight and does so well Cotto comes back for the rematch

Garcia was able to sit out for 3 years without financial problems. I'd say he's pretty smart with his money. You also don't know what type of deal GBP offered him so you aren't in position to say if it was better or not
This right here. An Ali v. Cotto fight isn't going to make money in NYC unless Cotto is taking something like $1 million for his purse.

Yes, I get why GBP would try to lock Mikey in but they don't really have any money making options either outside of Alvarez. Letting Mikey fight Cotto, then Linares would make them more money than anything else they could do. Obviously that's the short term perspective, but I don't really see what long term plays they have. The company doesn't have much talent to play with.

Nobody cares about Sadam Ali fighting Cotto. There will be a lot of giveaways and cheap tickets for that fight.

Mikey had the chance to be a part of GBP, his last chance at greatness, and he BLEW IT!!! What a damn fool. I understand that joining GBP means you will be matched competitively and won't be able to duck fights but it's well worth it. Good luck cherry picking your way to a meaningless record Mikey. You ****** ass.

Garcia could have turned this Cotto fight into a a nice 2-3 fight contact with real big money. Win or lose against Cotto he could have gotten real nice coin. If he win, perhaps a rematch and either a win or loss match up against Linares.

The free agent gig is an exercise in futility.
Why not question Golden Boy? This is Cotto's last fight. Which fight is gonna make more money. Cotto-Ali or Cotto-Garcia? Will Cotto-Ali even make money? You get Garcia for one fight but you get a profitable fight. It's Cotto's last fight. Why risk losing money on a guy who'll never make you money again?

Because boxing promoters are all fighting over a piece of the pie instead of getting together & baking a bigger pie.

              lol
Dudes a 135 pounder. Cotto could use a resume boost. Garcia would give it to him but GB and his team clearly dont want it. Theyve been playing the same song and dance with Linares. They couldve let him get Cotto and gotten him back with the Linares mandatory, but Its obvious GB wants to be rewarded appropriately for two predictable losses. Garcia will make more money than Ali, isnt that what promoters are looking for?

What does this have to do with Haymon?

It's about fighters wanting to have freedom and being able to control their own destiny. Instead of being tied down to a promoter any time they want to get a big fight.

Purse size matters in that equation too. Idk their finances but Haymon's top 15-20 (maybe 30) guys are making solid coin every time out. (i.e. both Charlos have cleared 300k in each of their last three fights.)

Mikey has fought twice in the last 12 months too. He got $1 million for Broner and 400k for the Zlaticanin fight. That's a solid year. It could've easily been 3 if he wanted Easter Jr.

He also has around 5 or 6 legit options around 135 - 140. He's not a guy I would worry about being active. His camp seems very interested in maximizing earning potential every time he fights. I can't hate on that.

Good for Mikey not taking the bait he is his own boss now and doesn't need to sign with anyone unless he feels like it. I wonder if they're going to try and make him sign with GB just for fighting his mandatory Linares.

You really want to go there, eh?
His first 2 fights at PBC earned him a mere $750K, total. That's $325K each.
Which he was already getting at TR fighting guys someone already beat. That is $700-900K PER fight.
Look at Loma, the guy who was a nobody when Mikey was already a star at TR.
Loma has been getting $1 mil without having to fight names like Broner.
Crawford is getting more than $1 mill fighting the likes of Lundy, Jean, Molina, Diaz, and got one PPV fight.
                      It's like day and night.
