Marquee fighters want Boss pay not Worker pay.....

When you start off in boxing you are a worker. You have to earn a name and learn the business. However after you become a household name and champion if you want to stay as an employee and that fits you nothing wrong with that. However if you want to go out on your own and be your own boss there should be nothing wrong with that either. Both scenarios should be welcomed.

How much longer can Mikey be a one and done doe? he needs to sign with someone...he is doing better on his own now because he hasn't looked bad in his fights but for his own protection (his future) he needs to pick someone and go with that.......GBP seems like the perfect fit....I don't get it.....

Why isn't it enough for the promoters to make money now, on one fight?

Why must they always be greedy and own a fighter's future as well?

Looking at with my business hat on - their business is Cotto. If Cotto were to lose, their future profits take a loss meanwhile Garcia is on the upswing off the back of GBP.

If they have options, they can recoup/hedge their bets with the loss of income if Cotto were to lose and get some back with Mikey

How are they to stay in business if there is no future revenue stream?

You are crazy if you think Cotto-Ali will make anywhere near the amount of money as Garcia-Cotto. Garcia just put 16k in the seats in Brooklyn. Cotto-Garia is a guaranteed sellout. Cotto-Ali will be a sell out with $10 tickets. Depending on strictly the PR audience for his last fight is a mistake with the suffering going on in PR now. People are sending money back to their family. And some of their family has moved here and their dollars are stretched helping their family. Cotto-Garcia is a crossover fight. Cotto-Ali won't even make a profit. Cotto is done after this fight. Why not take Garcia w/o signing a contract and make a profit? They'd rather send Cotto off losing money? ****** on GB to turn down this fight. I could understand if they had something else for Cotto down the line. But he's done after this. I guarantee you this fight sells out, and the tickets are going to cost exactly the same as they would if Garcia had been the fighter. It's not like Garcia makes this fight a ppv blowout either. Also stating that Garcia put 16k azzes in seats underscores the popularity of Broner cuz and Broner despite being an average fighter these days is what brought people out, either that or potentially seeing him lose ala Mayweather. Can you please provide any links to some of those claims or are you just talking or of your a$$ seriously because i am all about finding out the truth and I can admit when I'm wrong but I can't find anything that says Golden Boy admitted Garcia having every intention of taking that fight. Only thing I could find is Eric Gomez saying " were not taking it seriously at all" when he was asked about garcia calling out Cotto.

Broner only did 6k in his hometown the previous fight. He goes to NY & sells more than double that & Mikey gets no credit? If Broner could consistently do those numbers on his own he'd be fighting in NY regardless of who the opponent is, right?

Puerto Ricans are loyal but they aint ******. Tired of fans acting and media like certain fanbases are ****** and don't know what a good fight is and what isn't and they'll support any garbage just because the fighter is the same race/ethnicity as they are.
