Dude has wasted his career. Has been in pro boxing for the longest and only just now got his first million dollar purse vs Broner. None of the promoters will let him fight their talent so don't hold your breath for an Linares fight.Last edited by Mister Wolf; 10-10-2017, 06:40 AM.Comment

Yeah he thnks he's gonna go the Mayweather and De La Hoya route but those guys had to eat schit for years under Bob Adolf and get some VERY meaningful victories under their belts before they were able to venture out on their own. If he thinks he's going to get any major fights without a future commitment he's crazy. Unless he think's he's going to go the Andre Ward route and find a promoter willing to invest Millions to make thousands back. Good luck on that one as well.Comment

Spent 2 years on the shelf trying to get out of a previous Promotion he would be a complete IDIOT to get himself in yet another Promotional Deal! Mikey Garcia I think is one of the few fighters today who don't need a promoter. Him and his family are known enough to do their own Promotion especially in CaliforniaComment

Because he's one of the best fighters in the world and can make for an attractive, desirable main event?
But that's not enough for these greedy promoter scumbags. They want to pay him for this fight and then use that as an excuse to own him for several fights afterwards.Comment

Mikey wasn't willing to waste two or three years just to fight Cotto. GB only made an offer for a long-term deal because Mikey would beat Cotto. And then GB would have the top p4p fighter. Garcia was smart, turned it down to pursue fighting the best and the biggest names. GB then did what was smart and got Cotto an opponent who is credible but who Cotto should be able to beat to go out on a good note.
Mikey is going to be fighting at WW within two years. There is no one below WW that anyone cares about. Loma would be a good fight, but Arum is never going to allow that. He wants to test himself and get the big paydays. That means moving to WW. He isn't going to have power there, but that doesn't mean he can't beat most, or at least some, of the top WWs.Comment

Showtime wants Mikey vs Linares (with Mikey running the show of course), Showtime will happily pay for Mikey-EasterJr, and Crawford's move out of the division opens up opportunities at 140lbs for Mikey as well (Figueroa Jr for the vacant WBA belt would be a great fight, among others).
All of which he's getting without a promoter in his business. What are you talking about?Comment

Do you think a promoter would be in the business long if they just kept paying all these fighters without getting any future investments from them?Comment

vs Linares/EasterJr next, vs Terry Flanagan if he ever gets the heart, and then a move up to 140lbs (where paths to the WBO or WBA 140lb titles clear for him) where Omar Figueroa Jr, Regis Prograis, Sergey Lipinets, Rances Barthelemy, and others are available as solid opponents.
You're a fool if you don't think that Mikey Garcia is sitting on plenty of opportunities to make money.Comment
