Comments Thread For: David Lemieux May Headline Card on December 16

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux will not be the dance partner of four division champion Miguel Cotto (41-5, 33 KOs) on December 2 at New York's Madison Square Garden. Instead, the Puerto Rican superstar will defend his WBO junior middleweight title against Sadam Ali (25-1, 14 KOs), who is moving up from the welterweight division.

billy joe is the only fight that makes sense for lemieux at 160 in december being that jacobs isnt available and andrade isnt available.

im so tired of these bums, getting dates while avoiding the fights that make the most sense.

there is no excuse for lemieux not to be fighting saunders in December

Jacobs wanted Lemieux. Lemieux wanted Cotto. Andrade also wanted Lemieux. So does Saunders and everybody else. They all know he can be outboxed.

I really was hoping to watch that Cotto vs Lemieux fight but it is what it is.

Rumor has it it's either Lemieux vs Kirkland or Lemieux vs Hugo Centeno Jr.

U ask me? I'd take Lemy vs Kirkland. That's an all bombs war.

Yeah I'm annoyed by it. What is he holding out for? A rematch with Golovkin?? Fat chance. If he fights Saunders and wins, he could have a rematch or (more likely) fight Canelo in a big payday PPV. If he loses the Canelo fight would still be there.

I don't get why they keep turning down this fight. I know its risky trying to win overseas, but if the money is right I don't understand the logic behind not taking the fight.

Man if Lemieux is fighting either Kirkland or Centeno that's a major disappointment. Andrade, Charlo, and Billy Jo have all called out Lemieux. Golden Boy Promotions should try to get one of them.

Golden Boy Promotions have 4 HBO dates in the next three months. Corrales vs Machado, Kovalev vs Slava, Cotto vs Ali, and Lemieux vs Kirkland/Centeno??

While December isn't confirmed October is not HBO worthy and November is a better quality fight at least but still blah.

But those December fights look like pure garbage. HBO looks mediocre these last 3 months.
