That premise is ridiculous.
Doesn't mean the #1 cruiserweight wouldn't beat the #20 heavyweight.
But it does mean that the #1 heavyweight would beat the #1 cruiserweight or #1 light heavyweight 99 times out of 100.
You've been asked repeatedly to pick the fighter you believe would be most likely to beat the fighter I pick and you refuse to answer because we both know you would pick a heavyweight.
You've been asked to name a 175 pound fighter in recent history who would have beat the #1 heavyweight but he wasn't allowed to try. You refuse to answer because we both know that fighter doesn't exist.
For whatever reason, you struggle with common sense. The heavyweight champion is the boxing champion of any weight. He is the champion of boxing. The actual sport of boxing. He is the best. The boxer that would beat the other boxers.
Obviously size is a huge advantage in boxing, so we also recognize other champions who are the best AT THEIR WEIGHT. And that is fine. But that doesn't change the fact that the heavyweight champion is the best PERIOD.
You hate the basketball comparison because it puts you in checkmate. A 6 foot and under basketball league would allow us to see some highly skilled players able to shine against players their size. You could create a 200 pound and under football league that would allow highly skilled players to shine against players their size.
But the best teams would be in the unlimited leagues. We all know that. Boxing is no different.
