Can't find the vid to link...but malinaggi called the lineal title a complete joke. Basically said, there's no rules or rankings...nothing making the holder defend it against top contenders etc.

That's precisely what you're doing by claiming Pacquiao held world titles in 8 divisions. So if we can't rewrite history, then he's a six division world champion.

Name 8 divisions he held a world title in. You can't.

why are you so fixated on the abc organisations? Can you understand the criticism towards the abc organisations and why some of their decisions resulted in not having the best fighters holding the belts?

Pacquiao is technically a 6 division champ, but he beat the man in the 126 and 140 divison, which is a better feat than beating a random abc title holder.

There are some flaws in the lineal system too (lineal champs should at least defend against a top2 opponent once a year), but comparing lineal champs with the abc champs, most of the time the lineal champ is the best fighter and at worse the second best fighter in the division (Stevenson).

That we even have to bring up a mythical title is because the abc belts coulndt get their s hit together.

The Lineal title can be traced back to some Greek warrior in the first Olympic games. Apparently. According to some whacko on here a while back. They didn't have the WBC or WBA back then so there were no unifications.

The issue is how that lineal title is won and then retained.

Cotto for instance beat Martinez for the lineal MW title. I would say fair enough to that but his subsequent refusal to fight at the MW limit, his ducking of GGG and the eventual fight against Canelo should have led him to being stripped of his lineage. Subsequent clowning by Canelo should also have made the title vacant but it isn't.

Tbh, regardless of titles, most boxing fans know who the best fighters in a division are and if they fought each other, we'd know who the top dog is.
