Oh I agree. Hes made boxing mega-cool and hip over there in the UK and a dynamic we badly need again here in the US. I know he's made his shows a night out over there, which they arent here yet..What he is best at, and what he deserves full credit for as the best in the world, is using social media and internet marketing techniques to reach fans.
Much of that was probably in place at Matchroom before he was a big boxing player (not sure if you are UK, but his dad Barry HEarn was a major boxing promoter here in the 90's and has recently done amazing things with darts)
He is definitely charismatic too. He has an excitable and positive personality which I think connects with fans, especially casuals, pretty quickly.
So as a promoter he is very good. But in this day and age we have apparently left the job of organising the sport to promoters as well, despite the fact it doesnt make much sense to do so, and in that sense he hasnt been that great so far.Comment

I think aspect was already a part of UK culture, and UK boxing culture, before Hearn. Look at the old Hatton fights under Warren or self promoted. Insane atmospheres, singing, chanting the lot.
We love to drink, sing and jump about a lot. Comes from football.
unsure if that will cross over to US fans.Comment

The under card for the wlad card was pathetic. Eddie just got lucky wlad put up a good fight.People here actually love him but I dont know why he got booed at AJ/Vlad fight.. That was the first time he got boo'd and it made no sense as it was a sold out crowd and the fight actually lived up! Best fight of the year and the best heavyweight fight I ever seen live.
The thing is he's good at his job and likable as a person. Most promoters are money snatching snakes with no charisma but Hearn, he’s cut from a different cloth. He’s the best promoter by a long shot.Comment

Hearn, one of the most successful promoters in the game, gave an interesting answer when asked about the current state of the boxing industry.

A lot of GREED here in the States right now. Fighters, Promoters, Managers, Advisers sucking the sport of boxing Dry and nobody is trying to replenish the sport to make sure that is never dies so that they all can keep eating off of it
Maybe Eddie can be that Change. Yes some fighters are overpaid to the point in which they only need to fight Twice a Year when they get 1 Million or more a fight! Split that up to 500K a fight and make them fight 4 times a year!Comment

Yeah I'm a big fan of his. He seems to have the fighters best interests at heart too which can't be said for everyoneComment

So why is there so much TV money in the US for boxing or not so much TV money in the UK for boxing? That seems to be what he's mainly speaking on with the US vs UK markets.
Just more people so TV entertainment is just bigger business & more watched in the US even if in real numbers the UK seems to put forward better numbers, that I can recall anyway? Cats just won't pay for it cuz as most Americans have surely noted the PPV's in the UK are drastically reduced price-wise compared to its US counterpart? Or something else entirely or a lil bit of all I mentioned?Comment

100%. He seems to let guys come & go when necessarily like few others do. There is like some yin & yanging going on with him in doing his own thing for his & his fighters present + future, but also willing to let guys explore better options when he can't match what someone else is offering better options. He's definitely the type of promoter more guys should emulate.Comment

Exactly. Look at Ohara Davis fighting josh Taylor on channel 5 or Callum smith fighting in the wbss on itv. If there's an opportunity he'll let his fighters take it. He has an exclusive deal with sky but his fighters can still appear on other networks providing the price is right. Not a lot of promoters give their fighters that kind of freedom.100%.
