I see some similarities to Calzaghe, but Joe didn't hold as much as Briedis nor Ward.
And that's what I'm basically comparing. Both Briedis and Ward have the throw and hold technique to them. Except Ward likes to go forward or stay in the center of the ring, while Briedis prefers to go backwards, at least for this fight.
But you are right I do see some similarities to Calzaghe.
Fluid in decision making. I'm not talking about movement. In Ward, you can see a series of intentional things take place in each exchange such as slipping, connecting, then escaping. Beridis lacks that. But, that's no knock on Breidis as Ward was #1 P4P in the world. Few guys have that level of skill.

Three times as many clinches as punches landed. This ****s even uglier than Wlad vs Povetkin

That's a bit of a stretch (I still cringe at the memory of that wasted afternoon) but it's got shades of it for sure.

stop blaming breidis for holding when perez lunges into him every time trying to land the HEADBUTT

I hate perez, glad he's about to lose

Breidis really didn't need to fight like that to win the fight. He was getting the job done when he was boxing him. He won this by a mile, but I'm not going to go out of my way to watch the guy fight again.
