Does anyone still think GGG should have taken the flat fee?

The offer was for a fight on Sept 16th 2017.

What part of that don't you understand?

HBO's main goal, for basically the last three years, has been to will Golovkin into becoming a PPV attraction. With the money agreed to, HBO would put the lean on Alvarez and get the fight that they actually wanted.

If GGG had accepted an offer to fight in Sept 2017 that would have made the fight happen in May 2017........

Doesn't ggg have his own promotion? Loeffler license is tied to k2 or something like that but there is no current ties between ggg and k2?

If he's getting a fighters purse and some kind of ceo share from the promoters share, he might even be making more money than we think.

Yea...gb never had any intention of making the fight any sooner, which is a damn shame. As a fan, i really wish promoters didn't have to waste so much time "marinating" fights just to pander to casual fans and the uninformed general public. The ideal time for that fight was soon after canelo beat cotto...they could have shared a card for their next fights, and then faced eachother right after. But instead we go canelo vs khan, smith and chavez jr...and ggg vs wade and brook. All worthless fights.

this is the guy that thinks ggg ducked ward because he fails to look at the timeline. same problem. ward wanted a tune up and then the ggg fight but wbc already said cotto-canelo winner had to face ggg next so ward wanted to fight him at the same exact time as that fight. obv a no. he doesnt care though. he expects fighters to do dumb things just for him i guess.

Can't remember what numbskull GGG hater kept insisting Golovkin was going to get less for this fight.

No, Canelo does not draw a million by himself.
Mayweather can probably make the case, but barely, that he could carry a fight by himself for a million.

The only guy who I feel comfortable saying he could do a million PPV (and adjusted for the times) was Mike Tyson. He could fight just about anyone for a while and bring in the equivalent of a million buys.

Lots of fill in the blanks.

The chances that Golovkin made less than $15MM is highly unlikely.

Wasn't this the same guy saying the fight wasn't even going to do 1MM buys just a day ago? I may be mistaken.

There is almost no chance he made less. These guys know what they are doing. Don't let some guy posting on forum with zip knowledge of actual convince you Golovkin's isn't ecstatic about his payday. He isn't saying dang I should have taken that flat fee. If indeed that was even real.

This is spot on. With Mike Tyson, you could guarantee public interest regardless of the opponent.

Canelo is certainly a top dog in the sport right now, but the state of the game is very different to what it once was.
