Comments Thread For: Mike Perez: I'm Best Cruiserweight in Tournament; I Will Win It!

Mike Perez is headed to the hometown of a powerful opponent who hasn't lost as a professional. The Cuban cruiserweight contender still is full of confidence. The former heavyweight feels he is the best fighter in the World Boxing Super Series' cruiserweight tournament and cannot wait to start proving it Saturday.

He was never a true heavy with these giants if he can get by tragedy and regain form should be a contender

I haven't heard of Mike Perez in at least two years. He's practically unrecognizable with the the weight loss. I have no idea what to expect from him at Cruiserweight and I'm not familiar with Briedis. Any predictions for this fight?

Mike is a great guy. He's a Facebook friend. We've had many intersections, private messages, etc. Funny dude, and a real family man. I wish him the best in his career and in life. He's a tough motherfucker and dangerous man inside the ring. I'm hoping his move to cruiserweight is successful. The guy looks like a beast at this weight.

Perez vs Breidis this weekend is the best fight of both tournaments so far. We haven’t seen how Mike Perez fights at this new weight of his because his only fight since the loss to Povetkin was a farcical blowout. He could be the goods and I think we’ll see the best version of him yet though you’d have to make Breidis the favourite. The unbeaten champ isnt the biggest cruiserweight out there but deals with his opponents with the same poise as Golovkin did on his way up. He rarely looks troubled and seems to box within himself so it may take a guy like Perez to bring the best out in him. Both guys can **** and are well matched physically although the Latvian is quicker and more mobile. Charr outweighed Breidis by 2 stone but still suffered a dramatic KO loss, a reflection of the power Mairis carries. I expect the Cuban to be the one who has to force the action which may be a problem because he has always seemed a lazy fighter and a natural counterpuncher. Breidis will likely control the action behind his powerful left hand and win rounds on workrate which means Perez will have to chase the fight. Mike will have to gamble at some point and really test the chin of the champion.

I see Breidis getting through any rough patches showing good composure and re-establishing control. I’d like to see Perez do well but he has been pretty inactive, not accustomed to cruiserweight and is going in with one of the favourites to win the tournament. Im picking Breidis on points.

Perez will get KO'd in three. Glowacki should have been in there over Huck and Perez.

Need to see him properly at Cruiserweight, so many questions regarding him but the time off may of done him some good and he is probably much better suited down at CW.

At 5ft11 and carrying around about 240+ lbs its no wonder he'd often fade badly even though he has a very big, thick frame its just too much weight to carry.
He's had a hard Road I'd like to see him do well.

I agree that Glowacki does belong in this tournament especially over Huck. I dont really have a problem with Perez being in it though.
