Perez has - or at least had (before the Mago tragedy) - the talent, and intuitively Cruiserweight should suit him better than heavy where he always looked undersized and overweight.

Problem is it's all hypothetical at this point. He hasn't faced the level of opposition since Mago to tell if he's really over it and he hasn't done jack **** at cruiser. So yeah I wish him well and may the best man win, but he's in for a baptism of fire with Breidis who has looked outstanding it the last coupla years.

WAS. he was a very dangerous man.

Unfortunately after the mago incident he was never the same...understandably.

Hes been brutally knocked out in recent years too and taken alot of punishment from big heavyweights, i hope he doesnt get badly hurt by a big puncher like dorticos or gassiev because cutting alot of weight can be very dangerous. He looks in fantastic shape though so let's hope he isnt cutting much to make 200...

Hate to say it, but I agree. I'm hoping Mike can be dangerous at cruiser. Like I said, he's a great guy. He has two young daughters he adores (always posting stuff about them). I'm sure Magomed's fate would've injured him badly anyway, but the fact that Mago has young daughters himself must've added further impact. I guess we'll have an idea where Mike is soon.

He looked happy after the last fight. If he does well in the tournament can see Hearn giving him a big push. Pretty much fits the exact same mould as Jacobs, good guy with a story that wants to fight the best.

Agreed. This is a tough racket. The vast majority of fighters can really only hope to make enough to live a decent life. All but a handful can fully retire after their career is done. I'd like to see Mike make a few good purses before he hangs 'em up.

Perez experience at heavyweight will be relevant to him because his chin is used to tasting heavy shots. He can easily handle cruiserweight punches and that puts Briedis in trouble.I haven't watch Briedis fight but since he fights at home, he should box to victory rather than go for KO.

                  The darkhorse of the tournament!

No one knows how he'll come out but one things for sure, at cruiser Mike looks faster, swifter and better to bring first on the attack than he was at heavy!

Briedis can box and **** but I'm not too sure if he wants to **** with a guy who hung tough with every heavy till he unfortunately fought the infamous roided PEDvetkin!

If Perez can somehow get the mentality he has b4 the Mago tragedy mixed with his new physique and confidence then he can possibly get to the finals!

Can't wait for this one, it should be good!

Have a soft spot for Mike Perez, first saw him win the prize fighter and after the Abdusalamov fight, he never looked the same. Good skilled guy and nice person but need to see how he looks at Cruiserweight.

Against Jenning and Takam he faded late. Only one 1 rounder in 2 years might be his downfall.

Sounds like a good guy. History has not been good for heavyweights that drop to cruiserweight but I hope he still succeeds.
