Did not care about the first fight and couldn't care less about a second. Wouldn't pay a penny to watch GGG chase a little chicken like Canelita around the ring all night. The fight was also guaranteed to have crooked shenanigans with GB in Vegas. I have interest in GGG moving up and fighting the bigger and much taller 168 and 175 fighters who will go toe to toe with GGG and have more than enough power to KO him. Those could be epic fights. The only good GGG fight has been Lemiuex.

If Floyd v. Canelo did 2.2 - and Canelo v. Cotto did 850K... htf is Oscar expecting this fight to do 3 mil?

Let's be serious... this will be lucky to crack the 1 mil mark...

We're in a PC ******* era of boxing... where Slick Black boxing styles are given extra credit and making someone miss by running is the equivalent to landing a Mike Tyson left hook...

My guess would be 1.4 to 1.6 mil, which isn't bad, but for such a big fight would be horrible.

The promotion for this fight was completely overshadowed by Mayweather McGreggor. Nobody was talking about this fight at all. That left them what, 3 weeks to promote this fight?
This fight would be lucky to do 800k. It was a great fight but you need 2 big names not 2 good fighters. Marketing is something else and having the Mayweather fight didn't help. I remember how Canelo thought he could go head to head against Mayweather. Just shows that Canelo doesn't only lack height but brains.

Man, Lederman has no integrity. He’s just as biased as the man next to him. In the Pacquiao-Marquez 2 he a gave a round to Pacquiao who was getting the brakes beat out of him. Solely because he though “Pacquiao looks physicals stronger and fresher of the two.” Those were his words. So integrity? I don’t think so.

Lol, what you said made absolutely no sense. Quite poetic though.

GGG fans are the best I tell ya

The previous years are what built up this fight, not the 1 1/2 months of marketing. That was the case of Mayweather vs. Pac too. That fight was built up on previous years, hell I don't remember anything about their press conferences. That fight still might be the best PPV number of all time.
Come on, don't you think the racial comments rallied troops on both sides? The racist market is real and I'm pretty sure it added fuel to the fire.

You shouldn't overlook the Malignaggi incident either. This probably convinced a few that there was actually going to be a fight there.

Estimates are just that, estimates. Promotion is the X factor between exceeding expectations and a flop.

Not sure you can draw any details on how many ppvs a fight sold based on replay viewership ratings a week later. Remember mayweather/mcgregor replay drew only 323K viewers but drew 4M ppv buys the week before. Replays will be dependent on what else is airing the next week because in 2017 with the Internet if you haven't seen the fight before Saturday's replay it's because you didn't want to look for it or see it. The fight has been downloaded and streamed millions of times since the fight ended all last week.

No the comments were meaningless and I don't think it moved the needle in any meaningful way. Few bought the show they put on, that these guys were really riled up and had some deep hatred.

Now did race play a factor, absolutely. But that was already in place. I think few new people came out and said I hate Floyd and NOW I'm buying the fight because he's going to get beat by a white boy. Nor do I believe most blacks said I'm going to buy that fight because that racist white boy needs to be f'd up. Here's what they had:

Super popular white MMA fighter vs. Super popular black boxing fighter. Build up had been in place for years.

I don't think they actually did anything all the inventive with the promo. They simply had a captive audience. This fight was always a no brainer because it was easy money. Again remind me what was done about the Pac-Mayweather fight from a promo standpoint that made it so wildly successful.

Let me close I'm not saying Marketing had no role, but 90% of the reason for the PPV success was the product not the marketing. In fact most media and people actually said it was a joke fight. The public commentary about the fight was very negative from what I saw. People for the most part knew it was a joke of fight but still wanted to see it.
