A healthy amount of boxing fans took another long look at the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin fight Saturday night. According to Nielsen Media Research ratings released Tuesday, the replay of their 12-round draw was watched by a peak audience of 840,000 viewers. An average of 726,000 viewers tuned in to see another airing of their highly competitive middleweight title fight from the previous Saturday night.

I've rewatched parts of the fight and watched a really good analysis on Youtube last night:

    hxxps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R34AnGmQ6vo

Watching it in person and in the nosebleeds (still expensive! $700), I didn't see all the nuances to the fight, but man both guys are impressive technically. I was impressed with how much respect Canelo was giving to GGG's right, and later I was impressed with how GGG would fake the right to control Canelo's movement. Canelo's pull counter is beautiful to watch.

I'm guessing the PPV did way below expectations if they haven't released them yet.

My guess would be 1.4 to 1.6 mil, which isn't bad, but for such a big fight would be horrible.

The promotion for this fight was completely overshadowed by Mayweather McGreggor. Nobody was talking about this fight at all. That left them what, 3 weeks to promote this fight?

1.5 million would be solid but I think more than anything it was the lack of promotion that hurt the buys. Even with Mayweather/McGregor taking place just three weeks before this fight it's still enough time to build up Canelo/Golovkin. I preferred Canelo/GGG but they didn't really promote it all the way. They had TV spots here and there, a couple specials but until fight week there wasn't much to talk about. It was the pure excitement of finally seeing the fight that sold it.

I debated a long time, until literally the day before, to go. It would have been nosebleeds too. I figured I wouldn't really be able to see the fight which was the complaint from other friends. Lots of money to not really see much of the fight.

How was the atmosphere? Was the fight worth it, for $700+?

With the re-air only drawing 750k homes on HBO, I'd even doubt of the event got anywhere near the range you put out.

It's the Tuesday after the re-air of the fight, and everyone involved in the fight is still radio silent. Nothing from Peter Nelson, nothing from Oscar De La Hoya, nothing from Tom Loeffler.

No talk of an immediate rematch to capitalize on the massive business, nothing.

Will give things to the end of the week, but this is smelling like they didn't even get near 1 mil at this point.

Mayweather-McGregor still haven't released their numbers so I wouldn't say that them not releasing the data yet means anything.

If they do 1.5MM they do really well. North of that just gets increasingly better. If it is the 2MM that was thrown around that is huge. Anything less than 1.3MM is pretty bad considering the magnitude of the fight and the wait.

What can we bet on the not even 1MM? You are thinking it did less than Chavez-Canelo, think that is highly unlikely.

Man, the atmosphere was awesome! I'd never been to a Vegas fight before, but it was on my bucket list. I'm a huge GGG fan, love boxing, and respect the heck out of Canelo, so I was pumped for the fight. The scenery was amazing: What you'd expect at a Vegas club with a ton of beautiful women.

It was worth the $700. I can't afford to do that often, but I'm definitely doing that again.

Rick Glaser has said slightly over 1mil, so its over that
