  • A Hopkins Win Does WHAT For His Legacy ?

I think it enhances it, in a huge way.
Hopkins is a lot older than the Roy Jones who couldn't handle Tarver.

Tarver is a punk to me, I really think Jones just got caught with something. Hopkins is going to whip his ass so don't say I didn't tell you so.

Alot of people, like Carmine and myself, still see Hopkins as the middleweight champion of the world, and even though it isn't technically true, for the middleweight champ (or at least a long-time legendary former middleweight champ) to go up and win the light heavyweight title...that's awesome.

I agree it puts him up there with the greats of all time.

Not much. What has Tarver really done other than beat up a ridiculously faded version of Jones?

And Tarver is something like 37 himself.

It'll be just a couple of over-rated, old men fighting on over-hyped HBO bull****.

Actually, it probably will do something major for his legacy over there.. but it Shouldn't do much.

If he won it would add to his legacy IMO, because getting older and coming off 2 losses ppl doubt him. If he were to win the belt it would close off a freat career in storybook fashion. CarminePersico I think RJJ relied on reflexes as opposed to technique so it's not suprising that in advanced age that RJJ was easier to hit. Hopkins style allowed him to be hard to hit in advanced age, I'm not a bid RJJ fan but he did beat Toney and Hopkins( I know Hopkins was younger)so I don't know how he's wack. He also dominated the sport for like a decade!

                  But.....

Don't you think Hopkins proves something, when compared against Roy's series with Tarver ?
Why would Roy be any more faded than Hopkins is ?
Roy is younger, did not have a tougher career, & certainly did not live a tougher life.

No matter what you think of Tarver.....it ( a win)is a big task for someone at this stage of Hopkins' career to accomplish.
