What damned difference would that have made, you would still be calling him a quitter!

He was TKD'd because of his reaction to being fouled by his opponent, that's all that matters here.

I backed Kovalev pre fight and lost three digits on him. I wanted him to take a knee so the referee could make a call or he could catch his breath. Why the hell would I want him to quit or call him a quitter???. When you just slouch on the ropes not defending yourself that's a KNOCKOUT.

Do you know what's ironic about my reply to TS post?. LOL... here's my post (ONE of many) in the NSB Pick 'em for Ward vs Kovalev 2. Just to prove I'm one of the most bipartisan posters on here and I'm not salty neither living in a fantasy World.

For me it's another head heart scenario. Heart was saying Dre but the first 3 rounds of the last fight showed me Kovalev's the better Boxer at range. Going into the fight I never once envisaged Kovalev being the 'better Boxer'. My head is saying Ward's not so lucky this time.

Leo Santa Cruz made an adjustment vs Frampton & I feel Kovalev is capable of doing the same.

Sitting on the ropes is not a knockout it's a knock down. So is taking a knee.

My point is .. why do you think the ref would have given Kovalev a count for taking a knee when he simply waved the fight off when he sat down on a rope?

And more important .. why did he warn Ward for hitting the belt of Kovalev's trunks in the 2nd round, then call shots to the belt and below the belt as fair in the 8th?

Yes, Kovalev was tired and going through a rough spot. Whether he could have got a second wind and come back from it is something we were denied a chance to find out. But don't you think it's at least possible that he reacted the way he did to what he believed to be fouls by Ward because he wanted the ref to give him some time to recover and maybe deduct a point from Ward?

Yes I do I agree the way he reacted the ref COULD have called it because even Ward looked at him lol. Weeks didn't call it and Ward continued his body attack. No standing 8 count.... KO.
