There's so much criteria. If DLH retired undefeated with his resume, he'd be the greatest of all time.
Cotto - is often referred to as "the Puerto Rican legend" rather than one of the all time greats. He was one of the best fighters in his generation. To ME that makes him a great fighter, but not all-time. I think it's kind of that difference between an NBA star and NBA Superstar. There are levels to this.
Mosley - I would say is one of the best fighters of his generation like Cotto. However I wouldn't put him as an all time great. Just a great fighter during his era. Dominating and stopping a prime Margarito solidified that for me.
Marquez - With victories over the great Pacquiao, Barrera and other very good fighters in his generation, I'd say Marquez is right at the cusp. He's looked good in some of his performances. Only knock is that him and Morales didn't fight in their primes and on paper lost to Pacman a couple of times.
Oscar - One of the best of his generation who will be remembered for his popularity, talent, good wins vs. someone like Vargas, held multiple titles, multiple weight classes, etc. and probably having the greatest resume of all time. However he lost those big fights vs prime P4P fighters like Mosley, Trinidad, Pacman, Mayweather, Hopkins and had some controversial wins. Not ATG, because he lost to the other "best fighters of his generation" but resume that is almost second to none.
Tyson - The best of his time as champion and dominant in a way that others on this list weren't. Unfortunately his victories didn't include a prime Holyfield or Bowe, nor did it include "one more big moment" by beating Lennox Lewis which would have helped his standing tremendously. Like JMM, I would say he's at the cusp simply because of his dominance.
I think there are basically two levels to greatness.
1. All-Time Great - being the best of your generation, having beaten much of the best of your generation and dominating for a decent period of time, winning multiple titles, at some point being recognized as the undisputed champion regardless of belts.
2. Great Fighter - Being ONE OF the best/top fighters of your generation, maybe not THE best, but one of them. Beating some other great fighters even if they're past their primes, getting some good wins vs top fighters. Fighting some of the best fighters of your generation win-lose-draw, but having a good win or two against some of those best fighters.
This only shows your lack of Boxing knowledge, kiddo.
You have seen his style and the fighters he has beaten yet he doesnt look like an ATG level fighter to you?
Go suck on some more mommy ******* cuz you dont know sht about boxing lol.
Are you ***ing ****** or what? I didn't say he wasn't an atg. I'm surprised so many picked him based off what a lot of people have said about him in the past on here
Tyson for me is just in the category.
JMM and Shane are very close on their skill level alone.
Oscar is just on the outside to me and Cotto is no where near an ATG! He was a good fighter but his skills are not at an elite level.
