But YOU'RE STILL MISSING THE POINT. It isn't just a business move. Cotto is a Hall of Famer. Having Cotto's name on GGG's resume makes GGG's resume look better. Its not just a money fight. Its a legacy fight.

He was a 154 lbr., just the way you and Sanchez like them. Why no mention of him? You're supposed to be a superstar everyone fears - how about you finally man up and call out Andre Ward, you know, the guy at 168 you avoided like the plague - even at a catchweight? That is guaranteed to never happen. Just keep lining up those old welterweights and lt. middleweights. The suckers will keep buying into it and singing your praises.
            But Cotto call him/them out,no?

I don't think that GGG beating Cotto @ 160, in 2017, is a legacy fight! It's a money fight! Pure and simple! Now if Cotto had beaten Lemieux, BJ Saunders, or Danny Jacobs @ 160, instead of Kamegai @ 154, then it would be different!

What about saunders unification? Wasn't his priority to unify all the belts? Saunders' ready to go in Dec too. Make it happen if Cotto doesn't want to fight.

I've always liked this fight for Cotto's swan song. And don't be fools, GBP is going to fully back this fight and push hard to make it happen. It's basic math. If Cotto defeats GGG, GBP will try to convince Cotto to fight Canelo in May. Makes for a gigantic rematch and Canelo doesn't have to rematch GGG. If GGG wins, he garners more fans and has a win against a huge name going into a huge rematch against Canelo. This is a win win for GBP, and they'll make a schit ton of money either way.

However, I can't see Cotto going all the way to 160, so I would imagine that the target catch weight will be 158. It remains to be seen if GGG will agree to a catch weight. They have said in the past that they would do a catch weight for a big fight, and only 2.5 months after his last fight, it should be a lot easier for him to cut the 2 extra pounds. For anyone who complains about the catch weight, two things: 1) would you not prefer to see a better fight? 2)Let's not forget GGG's people said they'd fight Ward at 164.

I like this fight, hope it gets made.

Well what you think doesn't matter but for the record I would agree with you. But at the end of the day when people 20 years into the future look at GGG's record they are going to say he beat a first ballot Hall of Famer in Miguel Cotto.
