      1. Roberto Duran
      2. Roy Jones Jr.
      3. Pernell Whittaker
      4. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Or, people could just age in their 30s, which they do.

      but..... wow, what a coincidence

that just so happened to coincide with an obvious step-up in class?

      with BOTH of those fighters?

despite the fact that MANY knowledgeable insiders predicted that would happen when Golovkin eventually fought a higher level of competition?

      don't think so

ggg is not in decline gtfoh. hes simply fighting higher caliber opponents. period. put him in against billy joe and watch him blast him out the ring within 5 rounds then everyone will say hes not declining no more lol.

its like the sixers going on a 10 game win streak then get blasted by the warriors. they are not declining they simply just played a better team.

we always look for excuses when things dont go as predicted. ggg is not in decline hes simply not fighting the monroes and wades.

            fair call ^^

but the fat red kid sure did lite that boy up like a christmas tree

Team Golovkin simply have nothing to cry about

            the promise:
NOBODY at 160 can last 12 with Golovkin, Gennady will knock Canelo out.....

            the truth:
Golovkin missed a TON of punches..... and he never looked like hurting Canelo, struggling to land anything meaningful..... Canelo boxed the **** out of Golovkin in spots, landed more meaningful punches in other spots, and hung tough finishing stronger

            e.g.

I am a kiwi..... if my boy Parker gets jobbed in the UK, fkn hard luck for him..... they know exactly what they are up against, and they know exactly what they need to do in order to prevent it..... if they do not get the win, then they were not good enough

here is why..... if Joe is anywhere near as good as his team say, then he should have no problem with Hughie Fury..... just like Golovkin should have had no problem with Canelo

I didn't read all that but there's nothing to gloat about in a gift draw. Jacobs deserves a rematch. Canelo should see how he does against somebody like Lemieux or something.

                    OR

That nobody wanted to fight those guys until they were deep into their 30s and were starting to show signs of age.

I would accept that explanation a little easier if not for two things

when did those signs occur ?

Golovkin was a huge favorite over Jacobs, and he was also favored to beat Canelo

saying that in hindsight just sounds like an excuse

also, there were guys who showed interest in fighting Golovkin, but K2/GGG were not interested in fighting them..... and all of those guys had a similar style

I don't think that is a coincidence either

there are very few coincidences in boxing

compound that with the fact that they appeared to place roadblocks in front of fights that looked inevitable..... refusing to negotiate on weight with lil old faded 153lb Cotto was inexplicable

anyway I don't want to get into that argument again, but that "avoided killer" stuff is mostly a myth created by K2 and fanned by the media

Sturm/Martinez..... we all know that Martinez had been chasing the Cotto fight for years, had he beaten Cotto I am sure he would have fought Golovkin..... you don't know, and neither does anyone else

nobody had ever accused Martinez of ducking a fight, and he fought some bad boys for sure..... he should be shown more respect

suggesting that Golovkin should be somehow elevated above Cotto is ridiculous..... that is like saying Charlo should have been elevated above Canelo

I never bought into that myth, because I could see exactly what was happening

people believed that myth, because they wanted to

Golovkin was high-risk/low-reward, so nobody was in a hurry to fight him..... but those guys either have to wait/earn it, or they have to make concessions..... Golovkin was unwilling to make concessions - even with superstars - so he had to wait/earn it
