Good fight, the thing I find funny is people talk about how ugly his windmills are.

Who ****ing cares how they look as long as they land!

The man can put you to sleep with only one, it would be different if he couldn't punch with that style, but no one in the division has his one punch power

This is an interesting date. There is UFC PPV on that night at MSG. I'm surprised Showtime went with this date and this location

Bomb squad!! Hyped for this one. Wilder is showing the willingness to get in there with the best available/possible competition. Could have easily ducked this fight which is high risk low reward fight and fought the probably the easier fight with his mandatory.

I think Lou Dibella was the one selling this date. He's put up record numbers 3 times this year at Barclays. (He promoted 3 of the top 4 cards in the history of fights at Barclays this year.) He probably feels like he has things rolling. He's also putting on the Charlo v. Lubin card.

It'll be interesting to see what numbers they do. I'm expecting 10k and a gate north of 900k. But we'll see. I'll be supporting boxing that night. Buying my tickets as soon as they become available.

They weren't wrong though because he was ducking /avoiding top guys over 20 fights ago?

ONE fight doesn't take that away ,its his JOB to fight legit /relevant guys , one would think those awarding Wilder because he is SCHEDULED to fight ortiz never saw boxing before ?

Yes great fight if Wilder makes it to the ring !

Between Ortiz and steroids and Wilder and his injuries, I am still pessimistic that the fight happens. If it does happen however, it will answer a lot of questions for both fighters. But the winner is still supposed to fight the winner of Stivern vs Breazeale so the Wilder/Ortiz vs Anthony Joshua fight will have to wait until next fall. Hopefully in the mean time AJ fights the Fury vs Parker winner and the fight next fall will be for full unification
If everyone keeps winning, you likely end up with Wilder vs Joshua on PPV August 2018 (Joshua fights in October on Showtime, Wilder fights in November on Showtime, both guys get their next fights out of the way before Spring 2018 on Showtime, and then you spend the entire summer hyping up the big full heavyweight unification fight)

I've got to give Wilder credit here, thought this fight was all hot air, a proper test and big risk but it does speeds up the potential AJ unification as I would expect Ortiz now to lose his mandatory position with the WBA.
