I think you miss the whole point. If you are not a draw, to make a big fight you have to make concessions. K2 and Trip have not made or seeming never made public that they were willing to make any concessions to make a big fight. Every proposed catchweight put Trip at the advantage.

Every proposed catchweight puts someone at the advantage. Canelo and Cotto's catchweight demands would have put GGG at a disadvantage. Froch's proposed 172 catchweight would have put GGG at a disadvantage. GGG's demands with Ward and Froch would have put them at a disadvantage.

But at the end of the day GGG got the fight he wanted, for the money he wanted at the weight he wanted. Whether he would have done better at a catchweight while a couple years younger is a matter of debate.

You made my point. That interview with Hearn Froch and Loeffler was late 2015. Once Frich said 172 the fight was dead. Weeks later Canelo defeated Cotto and the K2 focus was on Canelo only.
