Originally posted by Asian SensationExig, and be honest with me. Did you see the Quartey fight? De La Hoya threw in sustained fashion for a minute, then got gassed from attempting to finish Quartey right there. When De La Hoya hit the wall, Quartey did nothing at all. He beat his chest at the end of the fight, but that doesn't score you points.

DLH's first loss should have been Whittaker, and his second loss should have been against Oba Carr.
While Oscar was definitely winning rounds in the Carr fight, it was because Richard Steele was deducting points from Carr for no reason. That took Carr out of his game and left him with no choice but to try to KO De La Hoya.
I ****ing hate Richard Steele. You will never convince me that he "retired to try promoting boxing". With some of the strange happenings in Steele fights, like point deductions for phantom fouls and strange stoppages, I fully believe that Steele was busted for ******** on fights he was officiating and abusing his powers to make sure he won.Comment

That being said, I do think Richard Steele is crooked. He has had too many questionable judgements, from the Meldrick Taylor incident to the bizarre stoppage of Razor Ruddock in the Tyson fight. I really do not think highly of his officiating at all. The greatest referee I ever saw was Mitch Halpern. No one called it down the middle and took control of a fight like he did. He was so authoritative and professional, he should be in the IBHOF.Comment

Most people that say Oscar lost to Quartey didnt even watch the fight, (Iwatchboxing) for example... Oscar did enough to win that fight, that was one of Oscars best fights, he dropped him TWICE and almost finished him in the last round. Oscar real losses are
Mosley(1st fight), Sturm, and Hopkins. if you dont agreeComment
