How was 2 & 11 a Jacobs rounds? If you look at the eyeonthering site that shows fan scorecards for Golovkin/Jacobs, you can see the rounds where there was disagreement. The third and eighth were the ones the ones with the most variation, closely followed by the first. Give all three to Jacobs and you get to 115/112 for Jacobs in no time.
The 'clearer' rounds seemed to be:
Golovkin: 4th (2 point), 5th, 9th, 12th
Jacobs: 2nd, 6th, 7th, 10th, 11th
Which leaves the 1st, 3rd, 8th.
Give all three to Jacobs, voila, 115-112.
Give all 3 to Golovkin, voila, other way around.
Note that the weighting of the swing rounds were 1st and 3rd rounds to Golovkin (ie most people thought Golovkin had those two), and 8th to Jacobs. So if you went purely on the weighting, thats 114-113 to Golovkin.
But if you give 2 of the swing rounds to Jacobs, 114-113 Jacobs.
edit: give any swing round a 10-10 to get a 2 point fight.Comment

Thought might be interested to compare the actual judge scorecards with the above to see how closely the judge cards tallied to the fan cards (if I use the word 'correctly', I mean its consistent with the fan-rated cards, doesn't mean it was correct or that I or you agree with it).If you look at the eyeonthering site that shows fan scorecards for Golovkin/Jacobs, you can see the rounds where there was disagreement. The third and eighth were the ones the ones with the most variation, closely followed by the first. Give all three to Jacobs and you get to 115/112 for Jacobs in no time.

DeLuca 114-113
- Gave Golovkin 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9
- Gave Jacobs 2, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12
(a) Gave 12th to Jacobs, which fans saw as clear Golovkin round
(b) gave all fan-rated clear rounds for Jacobs 'correctly'
(c) all 3 swing rounds to Golovkin
Trella 115-112 Golovkin
- gave Golovkin 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12
- gave Jacobs 2, 6, 7, 10, 11
(a) gave all fan-rated clear Golovkin rounds 'correctly'
(b) gave all fan-rated clear rounds to Jacobs 'correctly'
(c) all 3 swing rounds to Golovkin
Weisfeld 115-112 Golovkin
- gave Golovkin 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9
- gave Jacobs 3, 6, 10, 11, 12
(a) Like DeLuca, gave 12th to Jacobs, which fans saw as clear Golovkin round
(b) gave 7th to Golovkin, which fans saw as a clear Jacobs round
(c) gave 1 swing round to Jacobs, 2 to Golovkin
So the judge disagreement with the fan cards is
(1) All 3 judges saw the 1st for Golovkin, ie not a swing round
(2) 2 judges gave 12th to Jacobs, fans saw clear Golovkin
(3) 1 judge gave 7th to Golovkin, fans saw clear Jacobs
Apologies if any mistakes, a bit confusing with all the numbers.Comment

Byrd and Moretti already raise su****ion in my eyes. Moretti has got to be one of the most corrupt/incompetent along with Clements. If this fight goes the distance I see a controversial decision.Comment

the start of the original post identifies the source of the 'fan scorecards'. No suggestion is made that these are particularly valid/correct or any other adjective. They are just one source of information that correlates a number of submitted fan scorecards (their name, not mine) and spews out a result. They seem to correlate quite well with the judges, and also serve quite well in terms of identifying the closer rounds and how people might arrive at scorecards between 115-112 for Golovkin and 115-112 for Jacobs.
Of course any correlation of fan scorecards will include some submitted by pro-Jacobs or pro-Golovkin people who may have been inclined to give more to their guy than the other, but with anything like this, if you have a fair number of scorecards the law of large numbers can come into play and you start to see useful information come out.
Make of them what you will/choose.
edit: just had a quick look and the 'fan scorecards' are the aggregation of 27 scorecards, 23 of which gave a max of 115 to one of the fighters. Three had 116 for Golovkin and one had 118 for Golovkin. Normally the 118 scorecard would be removed from any such set of data as its an outlier - one example of a flaw that can be found in the data. As mentioned, no undue authenticity is attached to the data, its just an interesting source of info to identify which rounds seem to be more closely scored than others.Last edited by angkag; 09-12-2017, 10:42 AM.Comment
