He looked shot from the opening bell. Tell me when you've seen him look lethargic and slow and lost in a fight before. Even the Cuadras fight and the last fight against this guy he looked great in spots while, taking a lot of punishment. He's done, he looked slow and shot and got beat down by a much bigger stronger guy that he would have beaten 2-3 years ago easily if he was at this weight then. It happens, guys get old at different ages in boxing.

Rungvisai made adjustments for the rematch and Gonzalez didn't hence the results you saw last night!
The size difference wasn't minimal. In the lower weight divisions, a small size difference will have a much greater effect compared to bouts in heavier weight divisions.

When two boxers are relatively evenly matches in skill, no amount of adjustments can overcome the size disadvantage. However, if the smaller boxer has the significant skill advantage, only then can that boxer make up for his lack of size to beat the heavier / bigger sized opponent.

Using size as a reason for why Gonzalez lost isn't an 'excuse'. It is an explanation. Ignoring this otherwise would mean ignorance or dishonesty from those doing the ignoring. Personally, I acknowledged the size being a huge factor, in even during the first fight and it was in affect in that fight as well.

Did the "size" difference prevent Gonzalez from using lateral movement? Did it prevent Gonzalez from holding, clinching when he got hurt? Did the size difference prevent Gonzalez from putting up his guard when being hit in the face? If an opponent is supposedly "bigger" then use your other skills to win the fight. Or as it pertains to Gonzalez..."what other skills?"

            Great post.

Gonzalez is a hype job, very good fighter but with the level of Santa Cruz...

It was embarrasing see Gonzalez not landing a ****ing jab in all the fight.

            He is a donkey... "peeleft:

Plus Gonzalez had a very soft career.

He only had 3 elite rivales: Estrada, WITH 21 YEARS OLD AND IN 108 POUNDS, ESTRADA MOVED TO 108, DRAINED WITH 4 POUNDS.

Cuadras, where he got his ass whooped, and with this thai that is his daddy.

Gonzalez always was a protected fighter and a hype job by the press.

Well, many thought he did in fact did think he beat the bigger guy in the first fight. Regardless of that, the #1 p4p fighter and champion in 3 weight classes is still saying quite a lot. Look at golovkin...hes never even tried to move up and he's ranked way to high. I'm not a Gonzalez fan, I don't mind watching his fights, but itf doesn't matter to me either way, so I can be unbiased in this.

No, you're right, Gonzalez was obviously the bigger stronger man in their fights. I must have been watching something different than you. I apologize, I'll never question your infinite boxing knowledge again

Of fact... Roman ducked the immediate rematch vs Cuadras and that was the reason why he fought with this thai.

Roman's team before the first fight vs the thai were saying that the style of Sor will be great for Roman...

                  lol

They ducked Cuadras 2 times, HBO offered him in december and then in march and he never wanted that.
