    Roman Gonzalez deserves some respect

He loses twice, both to the same man who is naturally bigger, a big puncher and also a solid fighter. No shame in that. And yet I'm already seeing people hating on Gonzalez and calling him overrated. It just shows how quick people turn their backs on a fighter who end up losing when that's part of the game.
I don't know how Gonzalez will look if he fights again or if he'll ever be the same again. But show some respect to a great fighter like Gonzalez. He's already achieved enough to be considered an ATG and was dominant in the lower weights. And unlike Ricardo Lopez he actually took risks and moved up in 3 weight classes to fight the best possible guys.

Was it too much to consider him as p4p #1? Probably. But he's had a solid career that warrants him a place in the HoF.

I give him credit as a good fighter and entertainer, but I never believed he was a top P4P.

He lost that means he was always trash obviously that's how it works around here. For real tho everyone with half a brain doesn't **** on a guys entire career when they finally loose .That being said I never believed the HBO hype train it was too much and annoying to the point where when he lost that first fight after Jim was kissing his ass the whole fight calling every time he landed even a look and ignoring Rungvisais efforts I was pretty amused. But I thought he would turn it around and recover on the second fight and we may get a third which would have been awesome, sadly he didn't.

Some fighters could handle a loss some can't look at broner he thought he was the next mayweather got ****d in the ring didn't learn from his mistakes and was broken mentally.chocolatito thought he was 1p4p was asking for million dollar paydays talking down on cuadras and estrada then lost a decision to the Thai fighter instead of coming in confident and motivated ready to prove he didn't lose the 1st fight he came in looking sloppy with no defence

I don't know that you can get that upset with those who feel he is over rated. While I do not, he was relatively unknown, then all of the sudden was ranked as the #1 p4p boxer. He then loses to an opponent we were told he should dominate.

Yes the loss was controversial but he still was in a close fight in a showcase fight which made people have questions. (I'm talking reasonable people not nsb dregs and idiots). Then he gets ktfo in the rematch.

I don't understand fans who completely jump all over a fighter like Roman G who loses. They act as if every ounce of work he's put into his career was a fluke. Some people wait for fighters to lose just to say "see, they're overrated and I knew it all along! give me a cookie!"

Your issue is not with Roman G. It's with the idea of hype. If promoters and networks didn't hype fighters, the fighters wouldn't get exposure and therefor get paid the way they should. If there is a fighter who is showing skills, winning good fights and has a good, if not undefeated, record, of course they will be hyped up. It's the job of promoters and networks to find the next top fighter. So when one comes along showing promise, they will begin to build them up. Think of it as investing. Because then their BIG-TIME break comes in a fight with a lot of eyes, if they prove to be who they're hyped up to be, everybody including the fighter begins to win. If they lose in that big fight, then oh well, sometimes it's worth the gamble.

However Roman G has shown his worth. Sure he may not be undefeated anymore, but one of two things will happen. Either he'll continue to fall and be a case of a very good fighter who could have been greater, but lost to a bigger man and was never the same. Or he'll recover, win some more fights and beat other top fighters and end up a greater fighter than he was.

Losses don't completely derail your career all of the time. Your issue is not with Roman G. So don't bash him.

We were only told he should dominate Rungvisai by people who dont follow the division and just boxrec'd him.

Anyone who saw at least his fight with Cuadras knew that he was one of the too dogs in the division, and a nightmare stylewise for a pressure fighter like Gonzalez. Plus the natural size as well. Sometimes fight night weights dont tell the full story (see Kell Brook vs GGG for example). RG couldnt put a dent in the guy.

I bet on Rungvisai at 10/1 in their first fight. Crazy odds.
