Roy did adapt, but so did Tarver

About Ward saying that: The true #1 P4P fighter telling the former false #1 P4P guy what it is. Ward should know as he had to adapt against a beast like Kovalev.
Max said in the fighter meeting Gonzalez said he can't do fighters the way he did him with his power since moving up. Ward said if you're p4p you have to find a way to adjust and win.

Gonzalez basically admitted he was all power, nothing else.

He squared his body too much...an especially bad thing to do against a southpaw. He needed to do a lot more stepping to his left.

Roy Jones Jr was 35 years old.

Why so emotional? I'm strictly talking boxing here. Your post seems like you took it personal. What I said would be agreed upon even by RG fans.

That would be like Ward saying I can't beat Kovalev cause he's bigger than me

People dont realize how much punishment a guy can take. And Roman Gonzalez is an epitome of a great fighter that shortened his career because of wars.
You can also look at his body and see he isn't really in the same fighting condition he was in at 108lbs.

Just look at SplitSeconds avi and see how solid he looks compared to now. His face is fat and puffy and didn't react well to punishment.

And I'm sure the Cuadras fight had him 2nd guessing his career as a boxer because that was a hellish fight that took a toll on Gonzales.

The problem with most posters on this site is they only judge a fighter based on the part of their career they saw on American TV,

So for many of them, Roman's first 40 fights don't count.

                Chocolatito has not defensive skills.

He always fights with this style.

He is a fraud, very good boxer but with the level of Santa Cruz, never the #1 pxp.

He doesn't know how to move and box...

Now he fought with a big warrior with a lot of power and he do the same of all his fights.

As a #1 P4P fighter you have to be able to adapt if something isn't working.

He lost because his ring IQ failed him. And yes he did tried throwing a lot of punches, it's just that Rungvisai was also throwing with him and his punches were hurting him, and he wasn't hurting Rungvisai, which made him reluctant. Hence the last resort being complaints about headbutts, that were non-factors, it was just him trying to cope with the fact that he was being outfought and didn't have a plan B.
He lost because he got caught.

Did Floyd's ring IQ fail him when Mosley caught him?

Floyd just took the shot better. If Mosley dropped Floyd as hard as Roman got dropped. Floyd wouldn't have made it out of the round either.

He has never been my cup of tea, but to pretend that slick boxing skills are the only kind of skills in boxing is ignorant of what makes up the sport.

His balance, and punch selection and ability to always get going was something nobody else in the sport had the ability to do.
