    Where Gonzalez went wrong.

Note that Gonzalez was not looking for volume, they came in with a gameplan to knock rungvisai out to the head. Terrible strategy against an iron chinned opponent, it makes no sense why, that if they wanted a ko, they would not focus on strong and consistent bodywork since the one time rungvisai was visibly hurt in the first fight was via a bodyshot.

Terrible strategy by his team, rungvisai was instead the one seriously working romans body, and i'll tell you now it wasnt getting old over night, or size, it was simply that no man can take that type of punishment to the body for long, roman was broken down, zapped of his strength, energy and the punches very soon started going through him, and that's when it was over.

Strategy lost and won the day tonight.

    Why didn't he adapt?

As a #1 P4P fighter you have to be able to adapt if something isn't working.

He lost because his ring IQ failed him. And yes he did tried throwing a lot of punches, it's just that Rungvisai was also throwing with him and his punches were hurting him, and he wasn't hurting Rungvisai, which made him reluctant. Hence the last resort being complaints about headbutts, that were non-factors, it was just him trying to cope with the fact that he was being outfought and didn't have a plan B.

His biggest mistake is that he kept dropping his left hand, and leaving himself open for sor to land those right hand bombs. This might have been caused by the accumulation of body work that sor was putting on him, that made roman subconsciously drop that hand to protect his body.

It's obvious Gonzales doesn't like the fact he can't impose his style and will on opponents at 115. Plus his face is starting to swell really badly during fights at 115.

I agree he should have been ready for a long night at the office and broke the Thai fighter down gradually but I think he's sick of the long wars with bigger fighters that leave his face looking bloody and bruised and his body feeling destroyed.

Wear and tear also breaks the bodu down. 4 fights straight it was all wars for Gonzalez. Rungvaisai's body work was good but lso to the fact that Roman lost a lot of his resistance, Estrada put on more body.work than Rungvaisai and Gonzalez surged forward and then Roman broke down against rungvaisai in 4 rounds. People dont realize how much punishment a guy can take. And Roman Gonzalez is an epitome of a great fighter that shortened his career because of wars.

I didn't hear that, but it's true. When you are placed at #1 in boxing, you can't go in the ring with Plan A and nothing else. #4 P4P was still too high, but i'm sure after this he will be dropped entirely to make room for Rungvisai.

About Ward saying that: The true #1 P4P fighter telling the former false #1 P4P guy what it is. Ward should know as he had to adapt against a beast like Kovalev.

I wonder why Roy Jones couldn't adapt in the 2nd Tarver fight and prevent himself from getting knocked out in 2. I mean he was P4P #1, it must have been his ring IQ but since he lost everything he did before that means nothing at all because some brainiac on a forum says so and his claim of being a great fighter was illegitimate.

The bias and envy of some of the posters on the forum but none of the OG's can match you Kev.

Gonzalez is not a boxer, he is a come forward, face first brawler, you tactically fight a dumb fight you get stretched on the canvas
