pros-seems like a legit good guy. a competitor. very good at what he does. skilled. good for boxing.

cons-garbabge resume. garbage online fans. may be overrated. resume or lack of one may not be completely his fault but it is still glaring. will have career defining fight against a guy that has 0 wins at MW. ducked a true p4p matchup against ward. hasnt moved up but brought a WW up two classes.

Yeah, I can see where your sentiment is truly, pretty obvious.

      Pros

Has taken on all comers at Middleweight, hasn't ducked anyone.

Exciting style, as enjoyable as any fighter today or of the past 10 years. Lot of guys I liked to watch. I'd say he isn't my favorite fighter but only Pac brought more excitement IMO.

Not a lot of trash talking, pretty much wants to get down to business. He'll throw a few things out here and there but not much. This isn't necessarily a positive but I kind of like guys who just put in the work. But it is good to have the lunch pail guys and the talkers.

      Negatives

Yeah unfortunately his resume doesn't have some of the big names it should. His resume up to this point is a lot like Hopkins minus RJJ. In Hops case there weren't very many top MWs with name recognition until Tito came up. In Golovkin's case the biggest true top MW (Martinez) ceded his crown to a guy who really shouldn't have been at MW. This crown should have passed from Sergio to Golovkin IMO. But the little guys (Cotto) and then Canelo (who really isn't a little guy) got in the way.

I think the pros of Golovkin far outweigh the negatives, in fact I'm not really sure what the big negative is with Golovkin. This is like saying Hopkins was a negative before the Tito fight. WTF did he do that was a negative except try and be undisputed king of the MW division. The Ward vs Golovkin and Ward vs Floyd talk is all nonsense. Would have been cool if careers would have been different but they weren't. No one ducked anyone.

You mean Golovkin was born in a country located in Asia. Ethnically he is 3/4 Russian and 1/4 Korean which racially makes him 3/4 Caucasian and 1/4 Asian.

In terms of color, he's white.

Unbeaten, never down, highest knockout percentage in the history of the MW division. Resume includes anyone with the balls to face him. Not his problem if the division isn't up to snuff. You can start bashing him if Canelo or anyone else beats him. Until then....sit back and enjoy the carnage.

What a ******. Where you were born doesn't decide your race.

Asian continent and Asian race aren't the same thing.

hopkins resume at MW, minus a prime RJJ, is pretty weak itself....the problem is most golovkin fans like to use hopkins MW resume to defend golovkin....its almost like they think hopkins is revered in the sport solely because of his MW reign...if hopkins stopped fighting after his MW reign his resume would be picked apart and his standing in the sport would not be what it is ....bernard is legendary because of what he did after his MW reign.......its like golovkin fans want to use bernards legendary status as some sort of bar for golovkin.....

Hopkins lost to RJJ so that shouldn't be on his resume anyway. Why is it on NSB, folks act as if your resume should include jobs you applied for but didn't get?

Now that said, Hopkins' resume at MW is far better than Golovkin's.

Felix Trinidad craps on anyone and everyone on GGG's resume.

Howard Eastman beats everyone on GGG's resume too.

You have a guy like Keith Holmes, who is ridiculed for his performance against Bernard, but beat Paul Vaden, Robert McCracken and future super middleweight champion Richie Woodhall.

I could name a few more but you get the point.

One note, however, is that there is still time for GGG to carve out a 160lb. legacy as good or better than Bernard's. At their respective ages in their career, Bernard's resume is only slightly better. That said, Bernard also wasn't receiving anyway near the same hype.

He also wants to be out there. He comes to fight. He wants to play. Great thread 10/10
