Mmmm .. there's something a little bit off about that to me!

Think about it .. Loeffler and GGG were trying to make the fight, otherwise they would never have agreed to allow Canelo a voluntary in the first place. So why would they have tried to force a purse bid, knowing that Oscar and Canelo would never accept one?
I said use it as leverage...I never said K2 tried to force a purse bid. Huge difference. Secondly, how a fight is sold is dependent on the winning promoter. If that promotion decides to sell the fight as a ppv, there is ZERO requirement to negotiate a ppv split with either of the fighters. The winning promoter controls everything as they have assumed all financial risk for the event.

That may be technically true. But in reality, at least regarding the 2 fighters headlining the show, everything has to be down in writing, in the contracts, before a fight is signed. And the only way that happens is via negotiations.

There is no way a promoter could spring a PPV on guys like Canelo and GGG without them knowing it was going to happen and negotiating their cut before they signed to fight.

Rules 2.21 and 2.22 address contracts after winning purse bids. Bottom line, winning promotion issues contracts. Either sign or be subject to being stripped or removed as mando.

The likelihood that either party would have signed said purse bid contract is unlikely.

Danny Jacobs was bigger, more athletic, had a longer reach and hit harder than Canelo. AND HE LOST. Canelo is going to be a much easier opponent. Canelo likes to counter but GGG likes fighting guys who let his offense get going. Canelo has always been troubled by jabs and GGG has a hard and accurate one that he uses to set up his offense. GGG is no Kirkland. GGG hits harder. GGG knows how to use his jab to set up his offense. GGG knows how to cut off the ring. GGG is bigger and has a longer reach. GGG can take big punches. GGG has been active and GGG isn't the headcase Kirkland is. Canelo has not proven he can fight hard for 12 rounds without gassing. GGG has.

Canelo is going to get beat down.

Your thinking Cleto Reyes , yes the absolute best boxing gloves in the sports history.

According to you CANELO has no chance at all, so when he defeats Golovkin, I expect you to come on here and give him his credit and respect.

Yeah, I'm really questioning that Jacobs win over Quillin??? He looked like dog sht. Against Johnson. Yes I know being so inactive doesn't help but Andrade and Russell Jr. Fight like 1x a year and they do alright. Floyd retired twice.

Yes it could very well go the distance. Wow they don't think CANELO can go at least 6 rounds LMAO. Yeah , I'd like to see CANELO vs. Jacobs in the future.

Remember how, after the Canelo/Khan fight, Jose Sulaiman put out a statement saying the WBC would not order a Canelo/GGG title fight immediately, if both sides agreed to more interim fights?

It must have been Oscar's offer to sign for a Sept 2017 fight - giving Canelo time to "grow" into a MW - which prompted Sulaiman to release that statement.

After GGG responded to it by saying "no more step asides" ... that was when Canelo vacated.

Nope. There is no chance they didn't ask GGG for a catchweight.

I wouldn't say Canelo has no chance at all. But I do think Jacobs was a much tougher matchup.

I guess it could have been either fight us next at 155 or wait till Sept 16th 2017 for 160.

Your logic is null. If that was the case he could of fought bjs for the wbo because he was mandatory to his title after he moved up from 54 as the champ
The fact that he didn't fight BJS at 160 speaks volumes. Hi risk no reward..
