Lol at you clowns saying he lost to Cotto. Of course he did, he was a cripple at that point. I think the OP is bringing up when Sergio was in his prime and calling for a fight at 154 with Floyd years ago. That call obviously went unanswered

he easily beat him? he was nearly stopped and came up with a great punch. i hardly think that was easy. a great fighter doesn't need to win via triangle logic.

Most of these "past prime greats" you speak of are younger than Floyd. But yeah longevity is overrated... Lol

Longevity is why Floyd is ranked so much higher than Pacquiao in any ATG list despite Pac having one of the greatest runs in boxing history when he moved up every other fight & knocked out bigger guys.

Martinez was not the big bad wolf. Canelo or old Mosely at 154 would have ended him.
I would've loved to see him fight Canelo around 2012 it would've been a really interesting fight at that point. Martinez is just unlucky that he didn't have a bigger promoter and he would've got bigger fights but at the same time even though I liked him I never bought into the hype because his best wins were against overhyped guys who stood right in front of him (Pavlik, Williams) and had no versatility. He was the best MW for a few years and had some entertaining fights, but that doesn't make you p4p top 3 or some sort of boogeyman/monster. The MW division has been really bad for a very long time now.

oh so because floyd was older than them that makes them still prime? makes no sense. why make such a terrible argument. if old floyd had beaten prime versions of these guys then yea that would be impressive. he didnt. if prime floyd had beaten prime versions that would be fine too. he didnt. it simply didnt happen though so im not sure why he gets credit simply for winning although against B level comp.

floyd is not ranked higher than pac on any list. hes not higher on my list(only list that matters) simply because pac has at least 2 wins that are better than any floyd has. also pac has the better overall resume and pac beat him head to head(landed cleaner flusher punches, this is boxing) but both guys were washed anyway so doenst mean too much.

Well Floyd easily beat Pac head to head as well so no triangle logic needed

no he didnt. pac won that fight. we can post the vids of pac landing the much cleaner punches if you like but you think that was some sort of great win over a washed pac? i said prime greats and you come up with 36 year old recently ko'd pac and the guy that beat pac.....and you dont see how you are losing this argument? horn just beat pac too so according to your own logic they are on the same level since when they beat them does not matter.

Martinez didn't look good against Macklin or Barker for that matter, it seems much gets overlooked with Sergio Martinez. I understand that he no longer had his knees against Cotto but one can't ignore the fact that Cotto was the most skilled fighter Martinez had ever faced.

The Martinez that lost to Cotto was completely shot and should have already been retired...but he felt at that point in his life he earned the right to a Cotto payday 1st...and he deserved what he probably felt was his retirement bonus.

The prime Martinez would have beaten both Cotto and Mayweather. Mayweather didn't want any part of the 147lb Paul Williams.
