I'd be surprised if that fight got made. I know the Garcia's seem legit on making that fight cuz some mfer told them it'd be a good idea, but it seems like a awful idea & I can't believe that doesn't become obvious to the Garcia's + Cotto himself as it'll be viewed as a bs win for him probably to in the end vs a much smaller guy.

Oscar was just on the breakfast club and mentioned that he doesn't like fighters who don't have a promoter and just move around fighting on promoters shows...to me this was a jab to Mikey, if someone is gonna fight cotto for his last outing on a golden boy card , it has to be a golden boy fighter. that's what happens when you try to be a floyd mayweather. even cotto had some problems when he went free agent. mikey is nowhere near close to floyd or cotto. sooner or later, mikey is gonna be begging to fight for peanuts LOL. career backfired!!

to be the face of boxing in their respective era, once was enough... because of that, we now have all this other boxers trying to follow the same path... and I'm also talking about all the diva like demands, entrance into the ring, ring size, glove size, referee, judges, etc.... it's all crap... Cotto uses that excuse to justify everything he does... "Paquiao and Floyd did that to me, now I'm the "A" side" ... it's all BS... just retire and let the boxers that really want to fight, fight... I truly believe we were deprived of many legendary boxing matches because of the diva like symptoms this boxers displayed in the negotiation.... whatever happened to the best fight the best in their prime.... all out the window with this clowns... all fighters have my respect but dang... I see this clowns getting millions for circus like matches and the little guys who truly are putting everything on the line through hard work, get little to nothing... that should upset not only me as a fan and the boxers but everyone who knows anything about boxing!!!!

My OGs told me that SRL was the guy who changed the game and started flexing his star power with "stipulations", and Bob was the one making sure it happened. I think we just saw it on a higher lever with these guys because we had multiple huge stars doing it and it was in the social media era so everybody notices. The diva stuff isn't new to the sport at all though, nor catchweights.

They want Lemieux so they can sell him vs Canelo fight. I'm not going to lie, I think it would be an exciting fight. Cotto is not a true MW though, he just got lucky on being fed a new born calf in Martinez with his knee.

I agree 100%. Cotto really isn't even an active fighter anymore. He's totally irrelevant at middleweight. Hell, he's never even fought at the 160 limit. And he's barely relevant at jr middleweight. If he's not gonna fight any of the top guys at 54. He might as well go out with a gimmicky type fight, which Mikey would be. And realistically, which relevant jr middleweight or middleweight would Cotto be picked to beat at this point anyway. At least Mikey is a big named opponent that Cotto could realistically beat.

GB isn't trying to make the Mikey/Linares fight, they would have made that fight instead of having Linares wait to late Sept. to fight. Mikey isn't signing over any options to any promoter either, he works on a fight by fight basis.

Well from a money perspective Garcia vs Broner is bigger money than Linares vs Garcia I think so you can't fault either party.

Garcia going fight by fight basis is smart. As long as he continues getting paid well and getting the fights he wants he should continue doing his fight by fight basis.
