Several people on this thread keep suggesting this happened at 147. Mikey has already said he was willing to go up to 154.

Reports of Cotto's demise are greatly exaggerated. At least Robert Garcia is smart enough to know that.

I admire Mikey's hustle but I gotta agree with the concensus that this would be a ****** move.

Its a no win situation really. If Mikey wins: "Cotto is way past his prime, he's old, weight drained, etc." he loses, well, he just looks silly af.

I understand him trying to get the big names tho, I respect that hustle, call out Pacquiao dude, at least he's your size.

Just read the last interview he did on this site. His brother has spoken about Al several times. Why do you think Mikey is getting all those PBC fights? Lol it's not because he's a nice guy
Aye your probably right. We both know ain't nothing free in this world.
But I'm sure you've heard Mikey say plenty of times that he's a free agent cause he wants to be able to fight for different promoters and take different fights. So explain to why he keeps saying that?

Dam i can get excited for this matchup. Despite what alot of cotto fans would claim, cotto doesnt have some massive size over mikey, if at all. He is a stubby little guy with short arms and he can easily make 140-147 if he wanted to. Of course he is older now but the fact is he isnt a big guy.

I belive their styles would mesh real well. It would be a highly technical boxing match without much holding, constant exchanges in the box, and consistent action.

Robert said that this fight is a crazy move and if it happens, it will be Mikey making it, not him. Listen to your big bro Mikey, Cotto is no joke like Broner is.

I've heard that but several of Haymon's guys are "free agents". Jacobs, Spence, Khan all come to mind. (Notice these are guys who've fought outside of the PBC umbrella). They don't have a promoter that they're signed with either. There are quite a few of his fighters that are "free" to work outside of the umbrella. I just doubt they'd be putting this much juice behind him without assurances. And his mention of Showtime last week seemed pretty telling to me.

I think they keep saying that because it sounds good. But I seriously doubt he fights on a card for Hearn or Oscar (never TR lol) without a co-promoter (who'd most likely be Dibella or Schaefer). Those guys mentioned above have fought on cards for outsiders with no co-promoter. But i see Mikey as a Broner type asset (with much more upside). He's probably their greatest revenue generator outside of Thurman, and Broner.
