Mikey isn't a free agent. He's managed by Haymon too. That's why he made the comment about going to talk with Showtime and his team to explore his options.

Just read the last interview he did on this site. His brother has spoken about Al several times. Why do you think Mikey is getting all those PBC fights? Lol it's not because he's a nice guy

Mikey is a free agent and is working with Al on a fight by fight basis. You could say though that he is more of a Showtime fighter because it's Espinoza and Showtime that have been paying for him to fight on their network.

I wonder if Mikey would fight him at full 154 or would ask for a cw. Anyway, bring it on. The fight evens out due to Cotto's age and wear and tear. Cotto is a big WW but a small JMW. Mikey is in his prime and aside from maybe the Salido fight, he hasn't really taken too much punishment. If he's gonna get a really big fight, then this is it. He's not getting Mayweather, Pacquiao, Bradley or Marquez, they are all pretty much retired and even if they were active, he wouldn't get any of the TR guys because of Arum's grudge on him.

Cotto is the last one he can get a decent PPV fight with. No one available to Mikey from 135 to 154 is as popular or brings as much money and fame as Cotto right now, this excludes Pac cause he's not available to Mikey cause of Arum.

Not knocking Mikey or anything but this isn't a competitive fight. When Broner started to press against Garcia he managed to force him back and even do some damage. Cotto is a size bigger still and has a lot more between his ears than Broner does.

I'm getting pretty sick of these gimmick fights where fighters are getting beaten up by guys two or three divisions above their natural weight class.

seeing as how cotto was in negotioations with marquez not too long ago this fight doesnt seem as crazy as it sounds at 150 catchweight. I think cotto was willing to go that low marquez wouldnt budge from 148. Mikeys bigger than Marquez and in his prime.
